Home Assessment Guidelines and Objectives

 

 

OBJECTIVES:         The associate degree nursing student will demonstrate a holistic

understanding of a home assessment by:

  1. Conducting an interview of an individual regarding physical, spiritual, cultural, social, and financial needs/issues.

 

  1. Conducting a home assessment for potential safety risks.

 

  1. Analyzing the assessment findings and providing evidence based solutions.

 

  1. Discussing available community resources that can benefit the individual.

 

 

GUIDELINES:

  1. Select an individual that is 55 years old or older who is disabled, or who is retired and 65 years old or older.

 

  1. Describe the individual in detail. It must be descriptive of posture, appearance, articulation, mood and affect.

 

  1. Describe individual’s neighborhood, the outside home environment, the inside of the home, and any actual or potential safety hazards.

 

  1. Interview the individual regarding physical, spiritual, cultural, social, and financial needs/issues.

 

  1. Discuss at least three community resources that benefit or could benefit the individual.

 

  1. Discuss at least one ethical dilemma faced by the individual and solutions to the issue.

 

  1. Provide evidence based resources to support your findings.

 

  1. Use correct, grammar, and syntax.
