Assignment 4: Methodology

Assignment 4 will require the student to outline the research methodology of the proposed project and describe in detail the various steps in 2 to 3 pages. This assignment should be written in future tense since it is only considered a proposal and no data is actually collected. The following components should be included (APA Level 2 and 3 headings):

Research Question(s)

Restate the research question(s) from assignment 1, 2 or 3. That is, the design you plan on using for this assignment should reflect the same question from that particular assignment.

Participants

            1. Include the target population and the sample that you will use for generalizing about the target population.

            2. Include the demographic information such as age, gender, and ethnicity of your sample.

3. The procedures for selecting the sample should be outlined, including justification for the sampling method, also known as Sampling Procedures.

Instruments

Include the instruments you plan on using to measure the dependent variable(s) in your research questions, also provide the following: (a) the source or developers of the instrument; (b) validity and reliability information; (c) information on how it was normed, and (d) other salient information (e.g., number of items in each scale, subscales, etc.).

Procedures (the “how-to” section of the study)

            Design. Here you will state specifically the type of design that you’ll employ for your study. This will include a brief explanation of what and how the design works and other pertinent information related to the type of design such as it being experimental or non-experimental etc.

            Based on the research design specifically discuss how the data will be collected to answer the research question(s). Discuss this as a step-by-step process.
