PART 1: WHAT IS THE VISION I HAVE FOR MY LIFE? Creating a Vision Statement This statement reflects your preferred vision of the future, what you desire, not what you predict. It reflects your dreams. It should be broader than the present. As yourself – what motivates you? Consider this question as you think about your future. It should be a picture of where you see yourself, maybe 5 or ten years from now. It should reflect your values and your mission. A vision statement isn’t to be confused with goals. It is not the steps but rather it is what you will see your life might be like in the future. It should be about 2-3 sentences at most. Read it over several times to see if it feels right, is a good fit for you and what you aspire to do in the world. You can begin with one of these sentences: My vision will be…… I believe….. I will…….

PART 3: WHAT ARE MY 5 CORE VALUES?
Uncovering and Diagramming My Core Values
Discover your core values by working through the following mindful questions. By the end you should have 5 core values that reflect what is most important to you. Take time to think, reflect and write in each section before you write down your values and then create a visual to represent each value.
Step 1: Identify the times when you were happiest.
- What were you doing?
- Were you with other people? Who?
- What other factors contributed to your happiness?
Step 2: Identify the times when you were most proud.
- Why were you proud?
- Did other people share your pride? Who?
- What other factors contributed to your feelings of pride?
Step 3: Identify the times when you were most fulfilled and satisfied.
- What need or desire was fulfilled?
- How and why did the experience give your life meaning?
- What other factors contributed to your feelings of fulfillment?
Step 4: Looking back at these three questions, what words, ideas or feelings seem to re-occur? Determine your top 5 values, based on your experiences of happiness, pride, and fulfillment. Ask yourself, “why is each experience truly important and memorable?” Use the following list of common personal values to help you get started – and aim for 5 top values. (As you work through, you may find that some of these naturally combine. For instance, if you value philanthropy, community, and generosity, you might say that service to others is one of your top values.) Look for themes or common ideas that keep surfacing in these values and explain in your own words what this value means to you:
For Example: “Truth: Some people are skilled liars. I am not. I function best when people are direct and honest. I make it clear in conversation and in writing that truth is necessary in my world, no matter how painful. This is probably why I thrive as a New Yorker.” https://www.inc.com/kevin-daum/define-your-personal-core-values-5-steps.html Image retrieved from: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Veritas
