Relationship building is one of the keys to successful fundraising. But there are also various approaches and tools that can be used to solicit funds from potential donors. Being prepared to utilize these tools and creating a fundraising plan will complement your relationship-building efforts and help you to be successful. In this Application Assignment, you will focus on your final project NPO and create a fundraising plan for obtaining resources for this organization.
To prepare for this assignment:
- Review Chapter 5 in The Complete Guide to Nonprofit Management, focusing on fundraising options and approaches.
- Review the Course Media “Resource Development.” Pay particular attention to the different types of funding sources.
- Reflect on the vision and mission of the NPO you are creating for your Final Project.
- Reflect on the financial goals for the organization.
- Consider the different options and approaches you could use to identify potential donors.
- Think about some funding strategies that you could use to raise money for your NPO.
- Select 2–3 funding sources for the NPO you are creating and think about why you would select these sources.
The assignment: (1–2 pages)
- Briefly describe the mission of your Final Project organization.
- Explain the budgetary needs of the organization, including revenues and expenses.
- Briefly describe the 2–3 funding sources you selected for your organization and explain why you selected each.
- Explain the approaches and strategies you would use to acquire funds from each source. Be specific.
