english analysis 2
For Analysis 2, you need to choose one of the five articles (do not choose the one you used to complete Analysis 1) in the Related Readings/Articles to Use for Analysis section above. Once you have chosen the article you wish to use for this analysis, you need to read it several times to make sure you have a thorough understanding of its main points.
Once you have an understanding of the article, you are to write an analysis of it. Make sure you pay attention to the advice given in the Article Analysis Instructions file when writing your analysis. An analysis differs from a summary in that a summary is just a regurgitation of the main ideas presented in a piece whereas an analysis examines how well the author presented his/her argument(s). Analysis examines the strengths and weaknesses of the points made by the author; analysis is asking what something means. It’s getting to the nitty gritty of what the author means, even when the author hasn’t explicitly stated it.
Analysis 2 is due by November 17.
Your analysis should be approximately 2 pages, plus a Works Cited Page (for a total of 3 pages). If you do any research to help further your understanding of the article’s content and you use that information in your analysis, make sure you include the source on your Works Cited page.
