Tell us how you became interested in the McWhorter School of Pharmacy and your reasons for applying to this pharmacy school. When deciding what college to attend, there are a number of things that one has to consider. People have sundry views on the purpose of attending college. Most people consider college and university as the means to lay the groundwork for a good career and earn high incomes. For others, pursuing higher studies is meant to advance their knowledge and make them more erudite in a specialized area. I have also come to my own conclusion. In my opinion, both of these factors play an integral role in the development of a person’s professional aspirations as well as one’s knowledge bank. In this regard, I feel that McWhorter School of Pharmacy offers me the best combination of these factors. The School is well-known for its scholarship, education, example and service as the School prospectus states. The School is accredited for producing competent pharmacists through its comprehensive training courses and competitive atmosphere that encourages an environment of high standards and excellence. The School stresses on the values of a high-quality education and the need to be good individuals at the same time. These values are reflected in the Mission statement of the School that emphasizes upon the ideology of preparing students and nurturing them to become proficient pharmacists and to endeavor to improve and advance the health of individuals throughout the world. In my view, inculcation of these values is significant in chiseling the personality of a person. A pharmacist’s job is not just to make medicines and sell them. It is through an exalted standard of professional ethics and values that one can be a good pharmacist.
McWhorter School of Pharmacy suits me for many other reasons besides its high educational standards and focus on grooming the students to be good pharmacists. The academic complex is located only 25 miles away from the residence of my brother and cousin. Therefore I can visit them frequently on the weekends. Moreover the college tuition fees are affordable and worth the education. I base this opinion from the research that I have conducted about the School. I first heard of the School through my friends. After reading about it on the Internet and in magazines, the School appeared to be an attractive option. I discussed my options with my employer too and he was also of the view that this School is a good choice for me. With my interest in the School piqued now, I visited it in Fall 2010. I came to interact with a number of people at the School. I asked the teachers about the way the course was conducted. The teachers were really helpful and encouraged me to explore the School more and satisfy myself before making the final decision. The students also gave me a lot of information about the School and guided me well. I was particularly appealed by the positive responses they gave regarding the faculty and how helping and easy-to-approach they are. I believe that the faculty is instrumental in polishing and grooming the students. Based on these responses and the attractions that I find at the School, I feel that the Pharmacy program at the School is the most appropriate choice for me and can provide me the opportunity to advance my knowledge and to build a strong base for my future career. I hope you find me a suitable candidate for the program.
