This week’s assignment will help put a “face” to religions in the modern world. Choose religious leaders or teachers from two different faiths. Then compare and contrast their lives and beliefs. Each leader must be from one of the major world religions that you study in this course (Indigenous Faiths, Hinduism, Buddhism, Daoism, Confucianism, Shinto, Judaism, Christianity, Islam, or Sikhism) and the two cannot be from the same major religion. Questions to consider for your biographies:

  1. What were their lives like growing up?
  2. How did they become a teacher or leader of their faith?
  3. What are their major religious beliefs?
  4. What are their challenges and/or concerns for their faith in modern times?
