Antidepressant Medications on Neurotransmitters Research Paper

I’m trying to study for my Health & Medical course and I need some help to understand this question.

Asking for Too Much?

Based on what is known about the role of dopamine, serotonin, and norepinephrine in mood, each seems a likely target for effective depression treatment. In addition, targeting more than one at a time might show a marked increase in depression treatment effectiveness. In reality, more does not appear to be better. Several major pharmaceutical companies developed triple reuptake inhibitors and tested them with little success.

The three neurotransmitter systems that are involved in depression are serotonin, norepinephrine, and dopamine. As such, a medication that targets all three should be the most effective for treating depression. In reality, the triple reuptake inhibitor does not work to treat depression.

For this Assignment, research at least three peer-reviewed articles that examine the effects of antidepressant medications on neurotransmitters and the body. In addition, examine the side effects of antidepressants.

Submit by Day 7 a 2- to 3-page paper that analyzes why the triple reuptake inhibitor might not work to treat depression. In your analysis, be sure to address each of the neurotransmitters as well as potential side effects.
