Using one of the major theories discussed thus far, explain why this rise has occurred and whether it is likely to continue post-pandemic.

Criminological Theory Paper 1

Data from 2020 showed a sizeable increase in homicide across the country. Why this increase occurred is a topic of much debate in the field of criminology. Using one of the major theories discussed thus far, explain why this rise has occurred and whether it is likely to continue post-pandemic. Be sure to explain the logic of the theory in general as well as how this theory would explain why this increase has occurred. Be sure to cite relevant research as appropriate. Finally, if your theory is correct, how should our city have responded to this increase (or, what could our city have done to prevent it)? In other words, what would reduce this increase in homicide from your theoretical perspective

Under current GAAP, how much revenue should Construction Company, Boat Builder and BMW recognize in 2012 and 2013?

Assignment answer the following question: Under current GAAP, how much revenue should Construction Company, Boat Builder and BMW recognize in 2012 and 2013?

Accountants from Construction Company, Boat Builder Company and BMW are discussing revenue recognition. All are calendar year companies. A description of the production process of each company follows.

Construction Company builds homes on lots it owns. It currently is building a home for Billy Bob (BB). The terms of the contract required BB to pay the entire $200,000 price of the home on the date the construction contract was signed (October 1, 2012). The advance payment protects BB from a forecasted increase in home prices. The contract promises BB that he can move into the house no later than 9 months from when he signs the contract (June 30, 2013). The total expected cost of completing the house is $150,000. If the house is not completed by June 30, 2013 Construction Company must pay BB a $1,500 penalty each week until he can move into the house.  Construction Company spends $20,000 to lay the foundation for the house in 2012. It completes the house for $2,000 under budget on July 1.

Boat Builder Company currently is completing work on a boat that a customer contracted for on September 30, 2012 and expects to take delivery of on August 1, 2013. The $200,000 fixed price contract does not obligate the customer to pay Boat Builder until the boat is delivered and the title transfers to the customer. The boat is a basic design offered by Boat Builder. Customers individualize the basic boat by selecting custom trim, accessories and other finish details. Boat Builder typically fulfills specific customer orders rather than holding boats in inventory. If the customer cancels the contract prior to delivery, Boat Builder must be paid for any work completed up to that date. Boat Builder incurs initial design and selling costs of $10,000. Boat Builder’s actual and expected building costs are

$150,000, which consists of raw materials of $50,000 and labor costs of $100,000. The raw materials are purchased on October 1, 2012. Raw materials are consumed and direct labor costs are incurred evenly over the construction period.

BMW agrees to sell Joe Customer a new BMW 650i for $85,000 on December 4, 2012 through one of its company-owned dealerships. The cost to BMW to produce the car is $60,000. Because of the highly specified nature of the options requested by this customer, BMW must build the car from scratch, a process that will take 8 weeks. BMW anticipates delivering the vehicle on February 1, 2013.

Describe two times when there was a moment of silence in the conversation between the social worker and the client.

Imagine you are talking to a friend in a coffee shop. The conversation is punctuated with long stretches of silence, during which you are each watching those around you. Are you comfortable with that silence, or are you anxious to fill it? Social workers seek to avoid thinking of silence as awkward. Instead, they need to cultivate silence as a tool for gathering information about their client. How a client reacts to silence can be very telling; is the client squirming uncomfortably, disengaging, or reflecting on the conversation?

In this Discussion, you explore silence as an interviewing skill that assists you in learning more about your client.

watch the Southside Community Services video.

  • Describe two times when there was a moment of silence in the conversation between the social worker and the client.
  • Explain whether these moments of silence were awkward or helpful to the interviewing process. Include an explanation of how the client appeared to feel in these moments.
  • Explain whether or not these moments of silence helped the client share information.

Generation X

  • DUE:  Assignment #2
  • READINGS:  Sticking Points: Chapter 6
  • This week we are reading Chapter 6 in Sticking Points.  We are focusing on Generation X.
  • Generation X (the smallest generation) makes up approximately 20% of the workforce.  Generation X grew up during a time that marriage in our society was changing.  The divorce rate soared during their childhood years and their mothers entered the workplace in large numbers. Gen X are the “latchkey kids” and often grew up unsupervised forcing them to teach themselves about life and become responsible at a very young age.  Often times, these children of the Baby Boomers created their own families in their strong friendships.  This was the first generation to introduce “casual Fridays” and a more casual look at work overall.  This generation thinks very differently than Traditionalists and Baby Boomers and does not do well being “micro managed” in the workplace.

Discuss the topic in relation to home health or hospice nursing roles– Apply your findings to your nursing roles by proposing what you (nurses) can do to enhance the individual/family’s quality of life through nursing assessment, interventions

1. Present key information about the topic as appropriate (e.g., definition, overview/background, significance, the impact of the chosen topic). Tie your discussion to either home health, hospice, or palliative nursing (not acute care nursing). 2. Discuss the topic in relation to home health or hospice nursing roles– Apply your findings to your nursing roles by proposing what you (nurses) can do to enhance the individual/family’s quality of life through nursing assessment, interventions (e.g., direct nursing care, health promotion, health education, and disease prevention), and evaluation. 3. When you write, focus on one area of community-based nursing fields- home health OR hospice OR palliative care. If you really want to do both(e.g., home health and hospice), you must be able to discuss the differences in nursing roles. For example, if you choose a cultural competency topic and you want to discuss both home health AND hospice nursing roles, you will discuss the differences between home health nurse and hospice nurse roles. Home health nurses may focus on improving the patient/family health by considering their cultural beliefs related to religion, traditional beliefs, family traditions, etc. Hospice nurses may focus on helping the patient and family prepare for death, loss, and grief based on their cultural beliefs.

In a 500-word essay, write a statement of personal and professional belief. Answer these questions: “What motivates you? What’s your professional passion? What do you believe?”

First project, “Identify Core Beliefs

In a 500-word essay, I would like to know what you value and what’s important to you about your profession, industry, career, or education. This requires a level of introspection that no one else can reach for you. Use the following suggestions, adapted from the This I Believe, as a guide:

  • Name your belief—If you can’t name it in a sentence or two, your essay might not be about your belief. You are writing an essay, not a list, so focus on one core belief. You will define, explain, and develop ideas about this belief through the essay.
  • Tell a story—Be specific. Ground your belief in specific events of your life. Consider moments when your belief was formed, tested, or changed. Think about your own experiences in work and life and share things you know that no one else does. Make sure your story ties to the essence of your professional or educational philosophy and the shaping of your beliefs. Tell how you reached your beliefs, and if they have grown, what made them grow. Your story need not be heart-warming or gut-wrenching—it can even be funny—but it should be real.
  • Be positive—Please avoid preaching, editorializing, or finger-pointing. This essay should explain what you live by and what you believe, not what you don’t believe.
  • Be personal—Avoid speaking in the editorial “we,” the projecting “you,” or the accusing “they.” Make your essay about you. This essay should not be about your views on society or the world; it should be personal to you and your professional or educational journey. Speak in the first person. Read your essay aloud to yourself several times, and each time, edit it and simplify it until you find the words, tone, and story that truly reflects your belief.

In a 500-word essay, write a statement of personal and professional belief. Answer these questions: “What motivates you? What’s your professional passion? What do you believe?”
