Consenting to Sexual Harassment
Read Case 11.4: Consenting to Sexual Harassment, located on page 420 in your textbook, then respond to the following questions. According to her own testimony, Vinson acquiesced to Taylor’s sexual demands. In this sense, her behavior was “voluntary”.

Does the voluntary nature of her behavior mean she had “consented” to Taylor’s advances? Does it mean they were “welcome”? Do you agree that Vinson’s acquiescence shows there was no sexual harassment? Defend your position.

History midterm | History homework help

I have spent an inordinate amount of time trying to figure out the best format for an online midterm in an intensive course. I’ve decided that it has to be writing-based, and should combine some specific material and some extensive reflection. So I’ve written a four prompts for essays of a longer and more conceptual nature than the homework assignments. Choose one of the four prompts and write an essay of about 750 words. Good essays will carefully and thoroughly answer each segment of the prompt, and offer specific support from the course material.

PROMPT 2

Thus far in this course we’ve been problematizing the concept of ‘civilization.’ What do Strayer and Nelson say about the definition of civilization and the risks of using the term? What does John Green say about the same things? Can you detect ways that Gus Casely-Hayford is comfortable or uncomfortable with the term? What reading or episode do you think best shows the definition of civilization? What reading or documentary shows the risks of using this term? (Be very specific, cite authors, directors, concepts, scenes, quotes, etc, and be sure to use materials from at least 3 different modules in your answer.) Based on what we’ve covered in the course thus far, how do you think historians should or should not use this term? Explain.

Influences within public programs | MPA563 Public Budgeting | University of Phoenix

Select a public program that has recently undergone a significant budgetary change.

As an example, suppose a state cut funding for a domestic violence program. It’s important to investigate the possible changes in public policy and the political process that could have led to this decision. Was it cut because of lack of funding? Or were there other factors? What ramifications will this change have on the community as a whole? Who will be impacted most by this change? How do the resulting outcomes, both short-term and long-term, compare to reasons for cutting funding? What is lost and what is gained? In a different example, suppose federal and state environmentalists have recommended cuts to highway funding to reduce environmental impact. How might this reduction in funding affect the maintenance of state and federal roads, safety, and so on?

Discuss your topic with your instructor prior to beginning the assignment. Be sure to obtain instructor approval for the topic. THE APPROVED TOPIC IS HOW IS CONGRESS’S $600MILLION DOLLAR BUDGET CUT IS AFFECTING THE  Missouri Coalition against Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency.

Write a 1,400- to 1,750-word paper about how the political process and changing public policy at the federal, state, and city levels influence program budgeting. In your paper, ensure you:

  • Detail how the change came about and its effect on the resulting program.
  • Identify political, economic, social, and cultural influences that caused the change in the budget.
  • Identify the interaction among the federal, state, and city levels with regard to your program.
  • Specify the limits of the agency budget office and how they may try to compensate for those limits.
  • Provide strategies agencies and politicians might use to justify increasing or decreasing the budget for the program you selected.

Note: This assignment must not become a discussion on the advisability of one political position over another. Keep your discussions focused on how politics influence budgeting.

Format your paper consistent with APA guidelines.

Mha510/module 2 discussion-organizational behavior: leadership style

A small group of nurses, employed at a large community hospital, were unhappy about their work environment and would meet daily during lunch to discuss the situation. There had been a recent change in the hospital’s senior management, which caused a high level of uncertainty and anxiety among the nursing staff. The nurses felt overworked as a result of the industry’s current nursing shortage. Their wages and benefits had been stagnant, with no salary market adjustments for the past two years. The nurses saw the situation as management requiring them to do more work with fewer resources, with no appreciation or recognition of their efforts. Whenever the nurses approached management with their concerns, they perceived them as falling on deaf ears since no changes were made.

Feeling like they had no other choice, the nurses contacted a labor union. The labor union began an organizing effort in the hospital shortly thereafter, holding an aggressive campaign over a six-week period. There was tremendous peer pressure, as some of the well-respected nursing staff became active leaders for unionization, although they were not part of the initial group of nurses who had contacted the union. The election was held, and the union was voted in by two-thirds of the nursing staff. In the weeks that followed, the original group of nurses remarked that they were surprised by the union’s victory; they had only wanted to scare management into making changes to their work environment.

Using Blake and Mouton’s Leadership Grid, explain and discuss the leadership style displayed by management to the nursing staff. Support your analysis with scholarly sources.

Note: Blake and Mouton’s Leadership Grid can be found in Chapter 9 – Trait and Behavioral Theories of Leadership of Organizational Behavior in Health Care in the Trident Online Library.
