Why do you think these are the best ways to analyze the market?  •How will you use these tools in your plan?

As you close your weekly meeting with Deborah, she says, “There are some very good ideas here. I would like to see you continue with a global marketing plan. We need more concrete analysis and data for the presentation. Get your team to work.”  After your meeting with Deborah, you briefly meet with your team to discuss moving toward a more formal analysis.   “Tiffany and Mike, we need to provide a more detailed analysis,” you explain. “You’ve done a great job so far looking at what resources we need and potential countries, but we need to really dig deeper on this.”  Tiffany nods her head in agreement. “Definitely,” she says. “We need to look at some internal variables as well as political, environmental, sociocultural, and technological environments of the countries that we are considering.”  Mike interjects, “Well, that’s something we should consider, but it’s not the only way to analyze this type of project. This is such a big decision, and we need to give as much information as we can.”  You reply, “Great point, Mike. We should look at this from a couple of different angles.”  The next step in your strategic marketing plan is to determine the tools that are needed to conduct an analysis of the industry and competitors. Complete the following: •What are the best tools to use in this situation? ◦Provide a brief summary of at least 2 of these tools.   •Why do you think these are the best ways to analyze the market?  •How will you use these tools in your plan?   The materials found in the M.U.S.E. may help you with this assignment, such as the audio file Implementing a Global Strategy. Explain how color might be used both in representational painting and as a symbolic tool. (CLO 1, 2, 3) Outline some of the ways in which time and motion inform our experience of visual art. (CLO 1, 2, 3)

Introduction

Understanding a work of art really means thinking about the artist’s choices. Everything in a work of art, the artist has either put there, or allowed it to remain. An artwork is really just a big pile of choices to think about. Each choice is an expression. Why this kind of line, or that kind of shape, or this color rather than a different line, shape or color, or even none at all? How we interpret, think and feel about a work is based on the total effect of these choices.

The first set of choices to think about are the Visual Elements. Like the individual words in a paragraph or tones in a song, visual elements don’t convey the whole experience on their own, but they are a vital part to building it. When thinking about a work of art, looking at each of the visual elements and how it’s used, or even not used, and what they convey, tells us a little bit about what’s going on.

Unit Learning Outcomes

  • Describe the different qualities that line might possess (CLO 1, 2, 3)
  • Differentiate between Shape and Mass (CLO 1, 2, 3)
  • Describe the ways in which artists use light to represent space and model form. (CLO 1, 2, 3)
  • Explain how color might be used both in representational painting and as a symbolic tool. (CLO 1, 2, 3)
  • Outline some of the ways in which time and motion inform our experience of visual art. (CLO 1, 2, 3)

Directions

  1. Take a look at the image of the painting Napoleon Leading the Army over the Alps by Kehinde Wiley (2005) (Links to an external site.).
  2. Write an evaluation (150 to 300 words) about each artistic element and how it’s used in the work. Use following image below to help guide your evaluation.
  3. Submit the written response as a Word or PDF document named: Assignment2.lastname.doc.

Using the terms you’ve learned, describe how this artist uses the following art elements within this work.

    • line
    • shape and space
    • light and color
    • texture time and motion

Discuss why it is important to include policy and law in the study of health care and public health.

Apa 250 words

See this week’s two Learnscape topics and describe any of the course content you can use to make connections between the readings and the role you will play in the scenario. What connections did you make? Discuss why it is important to include policy and law in the study of health care and public health.

Subject 1: Policy Analysis and DevelopmentYou are in a health care policy internship program in a Senator’s office in Washington, D.C. The Senator wants to develop policy that requires all health care organizations that receive federal funds to implement the recommendations presented in the Institute of Medicine reports on quality care. You will develop a policy, so that it can become proposed legislation. To do so, you must collect data, describe the problem, solutions and related ethical issues, examine the cost-benefit analysis, identify stakeholders (such as lobbyists from American Hospital Association, health care providers, health care corporations, pharmaceuticals, insurers, etc.), and impact. Based on this information, you will create a policy description that will be the foundation for a bill.

Subject 2:

You are an intern working with the Senator’s team to get the bill (based on the policy created in Learnscape 1 – Policy Analysis and Development) passed. You must follow the legislative process to select committees, identify stakeholders, communicate with health care providers about their role, and identify key departments who will be responsible if the bill is passed.  Within this Learnscape, you will need to apply concepts such as how others influence the process, for example, health care providers who write letters, telephone and make personal visits to senator’s office.  You should understand that this is the responsibility of a health care professional.  Also, you must be able to articulate why the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is the agency chosen to implement the law and develop the regulations, what the regulations are, and why they are important.

) Write a memo that that attempts to answer/address the questions in bold from the book (see list below) to provide reasoning as to how you will approach this process (please restate the questions, memo format is acceptable).

On pages 22-24 of the book (The Forever Transaction), the author discusses how to put a Business Case Together for developing a “forever transaction”. Keep in mind she is a professional management consultant for major Fortune 500 corporations. However, this exercise is beneficial for a number of reasons. As you move upward in your career/business, you will likely be put in a position of having to make critical decisions about the organization and its direction/strategies. We know from our study of CRM thus far that most businesses desire to move toward a recurring subscription revenue model, or at least develop an ongoing relationship with the customer that creates value for both parties.

1) First, review the questions from the Template: Your Business Case for the Forever Transactionon pages 22-24.

2) Next, choose an organization that you are familiar with either as a customer or an employee/owner. This could be a small to medium business that you currently work for or have worked for in the past. Or, it could be a large corporation that you do business with (Apple, Netflix, Nike, etc.).

3) Now imagine that you are in a position of being tasked with developing the forever transaction business case/model for this organization.

4) Write a memo that that attempts to answer/address the questions in bold from the book (see list below) to provide reasoning as to how you will approach this process (please restate the questions, memo format is acceptable).

See Rubric for grading details…

Note: if you pick a large established organization like Apple, Nike, etc., then they likely already have a very established forever transaction model in place. But it still makes sense for you to analyze this and give your opinions/reasoning as to how you think they should/would approach these topics and how you think they can improve their strategy.

Minimum Questions to be Addressed:

What’s the Business Rationale?

What’s Our Forever Promise?

What Do We Need in Order to Execute on the Vision?

What Are the Risks of This Strategy?

What Early Steps, Research, and Tests are Needed?

What are the Criteria for Board (or for our purposes, Stakeholder) Support?

Determine two (2) specific ethical issues that General Electric (GE) Healthcare faced when implementing its strategy to introduce low cost diagnostic equipment to developing countries. Recommend two (2) actions that GE can take to resolve these ethical issues.

Case Study 2: GE Healthcare (B): A CSR Dilemma

Due Week 11 and worth 200 points

Read the case study titled “GE Healthcare (B): A CSR Dilemma” located in the XanEdu case pack (Link Below)

Reviewing the case study titled “GE Healthcare (A): Innovating for Emerging Markets” may be helpful in supporting your arguments.

Write a two to three (2-3) page paper in which you:

  1. Determine two (2) specific ethical issues that General Electric (GE) Healthcare faced when implementing its strategy to introduce low cost diagnostic equipment to developing countries. Recommend two (2) actions that GE can take to resolve these ethical issues.
  2. Analyze the concepts of professional and applied ethics and determine whether GE Healthcare breeched these concepts in the development of its low cost alternatives for diagnostic medical equipment. Provide one (1) specific example to support your rationale.
  3. Determine whether GE Healthcare has any responsibility in resolving the issue of a preference for male children in cultures where its diagnostic ultrasound products are sold. Recommend one (1) strategy that would enable GE Healthcare to balance its responsibility of continued growth and development with any ethical or moral concerns investors and human rights groups might have regarding the use of its equipment in controlling the birth rates of male children in some cultures.

Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:

  • Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references must follow APA or school-specific format. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.
  • Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required assignment page length.

The specific course learning outcomes associated with this assignment are:

  • Analyze the roles of and the relationships among organizational mission, vision, values, and strategic goals, and why they are called directional strategies.
  • Apply analytic skills to define strategic problems, generate and evaluate strategic alternatives, and develop implementation tactics.
  • Use technology and information resources to research issues in the strategic management of health care organizations.
  • Write clearly and concisely about strategic management of health care organizations using proper writing mechanics.

•   Identify and discuss the benefits and challenges of two or three change management theories as proposed in the practice and discipline of management.  .

Instructions: As economic times change, management styles have changed accordingly.  New concepts and issues of management styles have been analyzed, synthesized, and evaluated to meet the changing needs of the marketplace.  The concept of change management has gained great acceptance and/or disapproval by all sectors, including civilian and military.

Katzenbach (1995) wrote that “Real change leaders are the linchpins connecting three critical forces for organizational change and performance:  top leadership aspirations (what are we trying to become?); workforce energy and productivity (how will we climb the mountain?); and the marketplace reality (what do our target customers truly seek, and what can and will our potential competitors really do?) (pp. 8-9).

•   Discuss 3 to 5 changes that have or are occurring in organizational life or in your discipline today.

•   Identify and discuss the benefits and challenges of two or three change management theories as proposed in the practice and discipline of management.  .

•   Using one of the change management theories you discussed, analyze two of the five changes you identified in your field to determine if there have been periods of time in which leaders in the field, as well as actual practitioners in the field, have had to address the issue of change management.  Specifically, this analysis should be based on a synthesis of the current literature (and literature no older than 1995) to demonstrate how leaders in your field of study have addressed the issue of change management – as well as any changes in management style.

•   Relate these specific changes to your own current, previous, and/or future career paths.  This analysis should help to reveal how you have seen changes occur over the past decade or so in your field.

•   Finally, what possible changes, suggestions and/or recommendations would you consider to be necessary in management in order for effective change of organizations in the future?

Now that you have taken the survey twice, what areas for improvement would you make for it before using it again?

Assignment Overview

Continuing on the themes of the Module 1 and 2 Case Assignments, for this module you will be doing a self-assessment as well as applying the concepts from the module to your own organization. Make sure to thoroughly review the required background materials before starting this assignment, as you need to apply concepts from readings such as Fleenor, et al. (2008) as part of this assignment. The checklist on page 37 of Fleenor, et al. is especially important for this assignment.

Case Assignment

This assignment has five sections. For each section, the suggested length is one half to one full page, for a total length of four to five pages not including the title page and references. You should also make sure to cite Fleenor, et al. (2008) and other sources multiple times throughout the paper as well as any additional references that you find:

1.       Most 360-degree surveys are not free and in fact are very expensive if you want to get a license to use them at your organization. However, there are a few free sample 360-degree surveys out there. Do a search on Google or other search engines using terms such as “free 360-degree feedback survey.” Find two or three free surveys and choose one of them that you think would be most applicable to your organization. Explain the reasoning for your choice and try to use criteria from the readings such as the checklists from Fleenor, et al. (2008, p. 37).

2.       Now take the survey that you chose in your answer to Question 2 above. Fill out the survey as a self-evaluation – that is, use the survey to evaluate your own leadership skills and other skills. Report the results of your survey. Do you think the survey was useful? What areas for improvement in your leadership skills did you find from using the survey?

3.       As a next step, fill out the survey again, but this time evaluate your current supervisor or a previous supervisor that you worked with. Report your results. Were the results fair to your supervisor? What are the main areas for improvement for your supervisor based on your results?

4.       Now that you have taken the survey twice, what areas for improvement would you make for it before using it again? Would you change the wording of the questions? Any questions that you would add? Use the concepts from Fleenor, et al. (2008) as well as your own experiences filling out the survey to assess the usefulness of the survey that you took.

5.       Finally, take a look at pages 65-69 of Fleenor, et al. (2008) where they discuss issues, advantages and disadvantages of 360 degree assessment surveys. Which issues do you think would apply to your organization and the leaders you work with? How might you overcome these issues if you were to lead a 360-degree survey process in your organization? Next Start or as Soon as Possible.

Assignment Expectations

Follow the assignment instructions closely and follow all steps listed in the instructions

Stay focused on the precise assignment questions, don’t go off on tangents or devote a lot of space to summarizing general background materials

List supporting references and cite sources in proper format

Use appropriate writing style in essay form (organization, grammar, and spelling).

Include both a bibliography and in-text citations.
