Although the dome was not as successful as it was intended, it still remains to be an icon for London as well as the UK culture. Apart from the millennium dome, the UK has also used other types of architecture to define its contemporary culture. Architectural marvels such as the London Eye are also good examples. The UK still goes on to continue its culture in the contemporary world using modern pop culture.

Music is also another form of pop culture in the UK (Gilbert & Pearson, 1999). While many aspects of traditional or history-born culture in the UK have waned, the shift has gone to music. Today, a lot of music in Britain and its three co-states which make up the UK can be seen to be geared towards creating a culture that is unique to the UK. As Bennett, Shank, and Toynbee (2006) argue, BritPop is, for instance, one of the pop music that identifies contemporary British culture. The music is characterized by melody and chorus that are hooky and that are easy for listeners to master and sing along.

These kinds of songs have been made popular by many groups each of which makes different flavors of the music. For instance, Blur and Radiohead have produced songs in this genre and they prefer to be more experimental in their music. Oasis and Black Grape also offer different flavors of this music to its listeners. Regardless of the flavor of BritPop that any band of musicians prefers, the music is uniquely British and this forms the larger UK culture. Garage rock is also another form so pop UK music.

Although its origin is in the USA, it has been assimilated in the UK culture and now there is British pop culture. This kind of music is very widespread among young people in the UK and the UK Garage is very unique to the UK and makes part of the pop culture in contemporary UK culture. Glam Rock (Glitter Rock) is one of the foundations that gave way to modern pop culture music in the UK. Its origin is in the 1970s and although today is it not very much into the modern culture, it is a very good part of the formation of UK British culture.

It is distinguished from other forms of music especially from outside the UK by its freaky mode of dressing.

In Callista Roy’s model in the provision of nursing care, Roy sees an individual as a set of the interrelated social, psychological, and biological systems. This model will assist a nurse in the assessment of Eddie. A nurse would first be involved in the assessment of Eddie’s behavior. The model would guide a nurse to identify both internal and external factors or stimuli that influence Eddie’s adaptive behavior. A nurse would be able to identify the immediate stimuli that a person faces and guide them in planning their care.

The nurse would be able to identify other stimuli that affect the existing ones and finally they would identify those factors that influence Eddie but are unclear. A nurse familiar with this model would be able to come up with an appropriate nursing diagnosis, the nurse would be able to come up with statements that best describe the patient’s situation and that interpret the already gathered data about the Eddies adaptation status, including relevant stimuli and behavior. The model would guide a nurse inappropriate goal setting: in this, the nurse would set clear goal statements of the Expected behavioral outcomes for the nursing care.

The nurse would be able to come up with good intervention steps that determine how best they will assist Eddie in coping. The model would guide the nurse in making effective judgments or evaluations of the interventions made in relation to Eddie’s care. Roy’s model of adaptation has a great influence in guiding a nurse’s actions towards the care of an individual. This model would influence how a nurse would approach Eddie in promoting self-concept. AS nurse will be able to understand what is needed in dealing with self-concept.

In the self-concept mode, a nurse would be able to assess how Eddie views himself in terms of his ability to meet his daily needs or goals and if he can assist his members. Eddie saw viewed himself as a liability as he had no work and could not get back to his old job and the pins in his legs prevented him from looking for a job. Eddie thought he wished to visit his friend Joe he was not able to because his friend was hospitalized far away. Eddie had moved back to his mum’s house because he was not able to meet his needs.

The psychological aspects of the novel are not limited to the sphere of the protagonist (say, Heathcliff) but it extends to the relationship among the family members and the other characters in the novel. For instance, Heathcliff’s identity as an abandoned gypsy and Catherine’s refusal to marry him are the reasons behind his psychological problems. In the novel Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte, Mr. Lockwood opines about Heathcliff that “I felt interested in a man who seemed more exaggeratedly reserved than me” (3). On the other side, Catherine’s problems are interconnected with her social status as a member of an aristocratic family and her love for Heathcliff. To be specific, Heathcliff considers that his identity and illiteracy are interconnected with his ancestry as a gypsy. On the other side, Catherine considers that her social status can be sustained by marrying Edgar Linton. At the same time, Catherine was not able to find out an apt solution for her psychological problems. Heathcliff did not try to take revenge on Catherine because he knew that the best possible way to take revenge is to transform his social status and entrap Edgar and his family. So, one can see that the core element of the novel is interconnected with the psychological features of the main characters.

II. Emotional and mental trauma/dilemma

The elements of emotional and mental trauma/dilemmas revolve around the main characters like Heathcliff and Catherine Earnshaw. The emotional and mental problems faced by Heathcliff originate from his status as a servant and gypsy lineage. But he was aware of the fact that his status will affect his relationship with Catherine. When Catherine rejected him, he decided to break the social norms on lineage and richness. To be specific, emotional and mental trauma/dilemma forced Heathcliff to break his inhibitions. This helped him to grab control over Mr. Earnshaw’s family. But Catherine was not ready to cross the boundary of social status. This attitude forced her to ignore Heathcliff and to accept Edgar. Catherine says to Nelly that “Whereas if I marry Linton, I can aid Heathcliff, and place him out of my brother’s power” (181). But she was not able to forget Heathcliff and it resulted in emotional and mental trauma/dilemma. In short, the main characters (say, the hero and the heroine) face the same problem but they acted differently according to their social status and mental strength.

Summing, one cannot ignore the gothic elements in the novel Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte. At the same time, the main characters represent the psychological problems, emotional, and mental trauma/dilemmas faced by individuals in a non-flexible society. Heathcliff represents the existential dilemma faced by the downtrodden members of society and Catherine represents the unrealistic belief on social status and lineage.
