The offensive-neorealist approach is the only realistic approach in explaining international relations and the most appropriate International political theory.Offensive neorealism argues that states are principally concerned with maximizing their power in order to preempt any threat from other states. Mearsheimer offers a discussion on how states “care deeply about the balance of power and compete among themselves either to gain power…or make sure they do not lose power” (77).

As offensive realists argue, the structure of “competition for power” encourages states to maximize their share of world power. This maximization comes in terms of “pursuing hegemony which tends to intensify security competition” (77). This means that states are in a constant struggle to dominate other states since they ensure maximum security by maximizing this power. One of the strengths of offensive neorealism theory is that it has directed its focus on these differentials of power between states.

Offensive neorealism directs its main focus on the analysis of great powers arguing that great powers are the only ones capable of moving first in the international power struggle.Mearsheimer applies the offensive-neorealist approach to explaining the current situation at the international level where China is seen to be increasingly becoming a global power in its own right (88). He further argues that it makes good strategic sense for states such as China and the United States to gain much power and pursue hegemony.

According to offensive neorealists such as Mearsheimer, domination is the only way a state can gain overwhelming power in order to ensure its survival. Offensive neorealists are right to argue that in its rise, China will imitate the USA in its attempt to become a regional hegemon in Asia. In addition, China is likely to “push US military forces out of Asia….in the same way, the USA pushed European states out of the Western&nbsp.hemisphere” (Mearsheimer 89). Their current annual living expenses are $120,000. They have no children and they do not wish to bequeath any assets to charity (after their death). Marilyn and David are in excellent health and have a normal life expectancy. They are, however, concerned about the possibility of outliving their retirement income (i.e., longevity risk). They will rely entirely on their cash savings to support themselves financially during their retirement years. Furthermore, they have a strong aversion to risk.

Marilyn and David have decided to use their cash savings to purchase an annuity that will provide them with the necessary income to cover their living expenses over their retirement years. They initially consult with Ms. Sheila Young who is an investment advisor at Merrill Lynch about purchasing their desired annuity.  Ms. Young is a very experienced advisor and she claims that she could get Marilyn and David a much higher annual income than they require because she “knows” how to invest their savings in financial instruments that can yield at least 15% per year. This rate of return is well above the current and historical average return for U.S. stocks as measured by the S&P 500 index.

Reason and emotion are deceptively simple concepts. One has to decide whether reason and emotion are independent entities. In fact, both of them are interlinked and inter-dependant. An emotionally charged mind may not completely be devoid of traces of reason. Otherwise, people would forget the world altogether in their moments of emotional heights. Likewise, there is no instance of thought or act of reason which is not informed and influenced by emotion. However, the varying degrees of emotion and reason may lead to situations where the thought or act is understood as influenced solely by either one of them.

Moral decisions are demanded when there is a conflict which is to be solved in individual or social life. The decision may aggravate or alleviate the conflict, based on the emphasis given to either reason or emotion in the process of materializing it. Though it is often argued that moral decisions are the outcome of personal intuitions, contemporary social theorists and philosophers acknowledge the part played by society in shaping moral standards, and thereby decisions. However, moral standards are not universal in nature. It is easily observable that individual and societal moral standards vary. In the political sphere, one government’s moral decisions may offend or upset another government. On a personal level, no two people will have the same moral standard to react uniformly to a common situation. The moral decisions taken by individuals are heavily influenced by their varied life experiences and personal preferences and prejudices.

My subjective reaction to situations where a moral decision is to be taken is always influenced by a combination of emotion and reason. I had an unforgettable experience in which I had to take a decision regarding the well-being of my friend Sarah. However, my decision had led to some unforeseen events which made me rethink the validity of reasoning that could apply for all at the same level. In this paper, an attempt has been made to identify the processes leading to the construction of the various stable isotopes and substantiate the conclusions by using the data from the SAGA database in the context of Light Element Primary Process (LEPP) on which several studies have already been carried out from observatories around the world.

The universe came into existence with a Big Bang followed immediately by a rapid expansion. Before the Bing Bang, the matter was in the form of elementary particles in the quark-gluon-plasma phase consisting of free quarks, leptons and photons (Hempel2010, p7). When the Universe reached the quantum chromodynamics (QCD) phase after elapse of 10-5 s from the Bing Bang at a temperature of around 190 MeV temperature, the quarks became hadrons in the form of baryons and mesons. After the passage of time of 1s, the temperature dropped to 1MeV, resulting in decay of mesons.

The universe was, at that point of time, constituted of protons, neutrons, positrons, electrons and photons. Neutrons decay to form protons if nothing interfered, but protons reacted with neutrons to form heavier He nuclei (Rydberg,2009,5). The baryonic part of the universe evolved from then onwards through nuclear reactions which first began deuterons and then alpha particles.Within three minutes of the Big Bang, the primordial nucleosynthesis was completed, resulting in a matter which consisted of around 76% protons and 24% alpha particles along with traces of 3He, D and 7Li.

The Big Bang Nucleosynthesis (BBN) was completed within 17 minutes. Two other stable isotopes, namely, 4He and 6Li, were produced by the BBN, besides the unstable isotopes tritium or3H,7Be and&nbsp. 8Be(Karki, 2010,p1).
