John Rawls believes that disobeying laws is patriotic, as it is aimed at bringing the desired change to the laws or to the policies of the government. To him, breaking a law is not done out of disrespect, but as a cry for the people of a higher power to listen to the needs of their people.

Bob also gives shine to several historical figures who have been dead like “Michelangelo with the flow” and “Picasso with the bars” as mentioned in his song. The referencing of history’s finest artists does not end here as he mentioned Caesar and compared himself with Da Vinci and his date with Mona Lisa. He also compliments his date by saying “like a piece by Gershwin”.

In the first scene of the video, B.O.B is shown speculating with the cigar and drinking beer outside a restaurant while he is waiting for his lady. This has been depicted in the song, as the track features “Drinking a German beer with a Cuban cigar”. This could be considered inappropriate because being a youngster he is promoting the habits of drinking and smoking thereby encouraging other teenagers to take a wrong message from the song in the very first shot. He is also talking about the girl he likes and her admiration of arts by mentioning Picasso and Michelangelo. Apart from the point that the song lacks mature content, it is a fantastic choice for younger rap and hip-hop fans.

It is then followed by another shot covering both B.O.B and his girlfriend. He is approached by his young lady at the same restaurant where he was waiting for her .she greets him with a&nbsp.kiss on his cheeks after which they both left the table. The atmosphere shown is light and refreshing as the director has made full use of the natural sunlight around.&nbsp.

Popular culture can influence sexuality and gender in media and print ads by often using tall, skinny, beautiful model looking women in certain ads.  This can negatively influence a young woman’s perception of what they are supposed to look like. This has a damaging effect on young girls and women who can feel “less than”, if they don’t look like these women in the advertisements.  These young girls don’t understand that this is a job for these models and at times comes at a high price. (News, n.d.)

Current print ads show girls and women’s natural beauty, flaws and all.  There are many ads today including Target, Athlete and Express that show models ranging from size 2-16, moving the focus to a more realistic female of all shapes, sizes and colors.  Dove has a pro age advertisement which has a focus on women’s beauty with the slogan “Beauty has no limit”.  This campaign is a positive influence on thoughts of what beauty looks like.  Social media can be damaging to the self esteem of young people.  In this way popular culture can influence perceptions of sexuality and beauty. (News, n.d.)

Dove is also doing a great counter dominant portrayal of real Dad’s taking care of their kids and working and holding down a household.  These ads have men showing their emotions and crying when they find out they are going to be fathers. One observation since the Pandemic is seeing more father’s out and about with their children, riding bikes or simply walking with their babies in strollers.  (DoveMenCareUS, 2015)

When thinking about popular culture and how it influences society’s perception of religion,  a little cartoon called Veggie Tales comes to mind.    This is a cartoon with vegetables as main characters that use silly catchy songs to attract young audiences into learning about  religion, teaching biblical truths as well as sharing stories that teach lessons on building moral character.

For example, people who have social media accounts may follow the popular Kardashian sisters and see all of the plastic surgery they all have had and think in order for them to be a certain way, they need to look and do as they have done.

    • Contemporary scholarship is rife with broad, distorted generalizations about “culture” that play into stereotypes and threaten to obscure the powerful influences that individuality, resistance, and power play in development, said psychology professor Per Gjerde, who contributed the invited lead article to the journal’s issue focused on “The Study of Diversity: Human Development in Culture (McNulty, J. 2004).” Popular culture plays a role with stereotypes by emphasizing certain aspects of it, such as making someone seem better than they are.  For example, photoshop makes people appear to be perfect, flawless, and nothing wrong.  When in fact if all the filters and corrections were uncorrected you would see wrinkles, cellulate and imperfections.

The acknowledgment of and rebellion against the Absurd, the exercise of free will in self-investment in the performance of life to find intrinsic meaning, despite the incomprehensibility of the world, is to live well. A human being is just a dot in this world. The world cannot run as per the desire of an individual nor a group of individuals. Everything happens in this world as it should. What is important is the process of living, and not complaining about the so-called absurdities. For example, the lotus is born in slush and mud. lives in it, and when in bloom enthralls the viewer. It does not complain, nor does it think of committing suicide. Why complain about the thorns? Think of the beauty and fragrance of the roses. One should not complain about one’s fundamental relationship with the world. The world cannot run on happiness. Happiness and sorrow are alternative beats of the same heart. they are inevitable parts of the same truth. One cannot think of darkness without the knowledge about what light is! So absurdity need not cause tension. Accept its existence, the thing or issue that looks absurd today may prove the validity of its existence at a later stage.

Understanding the meaning of human existence is not the process of one day or one year. It is a process that can be experienced instantly and the authentic process of living begins after that experience. One cannot say that the ocean is absurd because there are waves. Waves are the very nature of the ocean and one needs to tackle the waves and do the swimming. Similarly, the fulfillment and non-fulfillment of one’s desire is part of the eternal function of nature. So, to invite a crisis with the feeling of absurdity is a meaningless exercise. Camus describes “Suicide like the leap, is an acceptance at its extreme.”(435. n. p.) and the art of living in the state exactly opposite to it.
