The Balfour Declaration created in 1917 stated that Britain, which at the time ruled Palestine, was in favor of creating a Jewish homeland. The term “Palestinian” is a misnomer. The land of Palestine was under the rule of foreign power since Biblical times. The Arabs living in Palestine never had a ruling government. Britain and the UN, after World War II, set aside part of Palestine to create the new State of Israel. Another misconception is Jewish families came and threw Arab families off their land.

The Jewish immigration since Herzl’s time had Jews coming to Palestine and buying land from local Arabs. After Israel declared their independence, Iran, Egypt, Iraq, Syria, Jordon, and Lebanon immediately attacked the new nation. The newly formed IDF (Israel Defense Forces) beat back the attacking forces and after a year won what is today Israel, excluding the West Bank, Gaza Strip, and Golan Heights. The Six-Day War and Yom Kippur War gave Israel the Sinai, Gaza Strip, West Bank, and Gaza Strip.

Through negotiations, the Sinai was returned to Egypt. The others are known as the Occupied Territories. When Israel formed their government, Jewish interests were placed first. The Holocaust had brought the cry “Never Again” to the lips of every Israel. The Arabs or “Palestinians” felt ostracized in their own country. The new language was Hebrew first, then Arab, and the English. Jews from all over the world flooded the tiny country, which is no bigger than New Jersey.

The refugees of the wars, instead of leaving for an Arab country, were placed in refugee camps. Refugee camps in the Occupied Territory are cramped apartments where hunger and poverty run wild. The Palestinians started fighting against Israel through terror attacks on civilian targets. The Mahlon School Massacre, the hijacked plane that landed in Entebbe, and the current bombings of restaurants and night clubs have outraged the Israelis and the world. Finally, the PA (Palestinian Authority) was given a chance to rule limited cities in the West Bank, but the corruption and misrule led the Israelis to take over once again.

The Gaza Strip has been given to the Palestinians, but the PA and Hamas have not managed to solve their people’s problems. Israel invaded the Gaza Strip recently due to rockets coming from the area. Hamas cannot even stop the terror. Terror has become a way of life. The lifestyle in former Palestine now is one of impossible peace. The Palestinians need to have the training to create a stable government. Israel needs to provide more support for these endeavors. Today Israel fights for security and Palestinians fight for land.

As long as these are the priorities, peace will be out of reach. It is not possible for the Israelis and Palestinians to work together in the foreseeable future.

The puritan philosophy emphasize on individual freedom and liberties of the common man (Vaughan, 1). The most commonly known philosophy of the eighteenth-century deism is that it is God who created the world but thereafter He has not exercised any control over worldly events. In other words, a deist is someone who believes that there is a divine creator but at the same time rejects any divine intervention.

According to deism philosophy, “human reason alone can give us everything we need to know to live a correct moral and religious life” (Craig, 853). There is however one group of deists who believe that God or the divine creator has a future world that stores rewards and punishments for human deeds in the current world. However, the other group rejects this philosophy. There is one common agreement between both groups that claim that only human reasoning can provide answers to questions of life and death, and there is no divine power to provide answer to religious questions that cannot be discovered by human reasoning.

Deism emerged during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries mostly in England, France and America (Craig, 853).

There are people who are highly motivated to achieve the goals for personal and/or professional reasons. They even put their own ego aside just to make sure that the workflows smoothly. Their commitment to the task leads them to use a variety of resources so that the task is achieved in time. So it cannot be said that the success of a group should be attributed to all group members playing different roles. However, the extent to which different group members contribute also depends upon the leadership and supervision of the group.&nbsp.

Having different personalities as part of the team helps in the development of a holistic approach toward the achievement of goals. Personality depicts the thoughts, opinions, perceptions, and reactions of an individual toward the challenges at hand. So when people with different personalities ponder over a matter, they are able to identify far more opportunities than anyone could have done individually. For example, a person who is very social can easily form ties with others. His/her oratory skills and friendly personality help him/her acquire the most suitable resources for the task at hand.

Social people are also generally very friendly, so people find it easy to approach them and discuss all kinds of issues with them. This helps deter confusion and promotes mutual understanding among the group members. On the other hand, people with dominating and aggressive personalities help a group achieve its goal by keeping everything on track. They have the power to command others, and thus are skilled in taking work from others.

Balancing a team of people with different personalities is a leadership skill. A leader should have a fair understanding of the personalities of different group members, and he/she should decide and assign them roles accordingly. For example, a leader should give more authority to sharks and dolphins compared to pufferfish. When forming a task force, a leader should ensure that there is at least one member of each kind of fish in it. It is equally important to establish a code of ethics from day one so that everyone knows their limits and nobody offends others.&nbsp.

I identify the most with the dolphins. I would try to keep the number of puffer fish to a minimum in my workgroup. I would also ensure the presence of at least two sharks in my workgroup. Being a dolphin, I would like to have mostly dolphins in my social group, but at least one shark is always welcome in my social profile to help me recognize opportunities and avail them.
