MAIN POST

For this discussion, Read the following essay:

Murray, D. (2014) The maker’s eye: Revising your own writing. In G.H. Muller (Ed.), The McGraw-Hill reader: Issues across the disciplines pp. 109-113. McGraw-Hill.

First, answer the following question found on p. 113 under “Writing.”

Question 3: Writing an Argument: Murray suggests that revision is actually “fun” (paragraph 24).

  • Do you agree or disagree? Write [a response] defending your position.
  • Be sure to quote and cite Murray when writing your response.

Your response to this first prompt should be 100+ words.

Second, Read the article found here. What are “higher order concerns”? What are “lower order concerns”? Why are “higher order concerns” more important? How have you revised for them already or how will you revise for them?

Your response to this second prompt should be 100+ words.

Third, what was the largest challenge you experienced in completing this research paper? What is one aspect about research that you believe is still challenging for you? What is one area that you have improved in? And what is one area of your work so far that you are proud of?

Your response to this third prompt should be 100+ words.

TIP: Be sure to respond to all three questions in individual paragraphs.

PEER REPLIES

  • In 100-150 words, respond to two peers’ main posts.  Offer your thoughts on ways your peer approaches the revision process. Identify any considerations or strategies that your peer may not have identified initially.
  • Take a moment to check replies you receive to your own main post.

Explain what you will do in case the selected product or service does not initially sell as much as expected.

Week 4    Developing Persuasive Business Messages Part II

Scenario: In Week 3, you selected a product or service that you believe your organization should invest capital resources to develop the product or service for sale. To speed up the new product investment, you decide to write a memo proposing and advocating for the launch of a new product or service to the company president.

Create a memo proposal using the AIDA model in a Microsoft® Word in a minimum of 1,400 words.  You will add an introduction and conclusion, and your paper will include the following components:

  • Convince your audience to invest capital resources to develop the product or service you intend to sell and explain your rationale.  See Figure 9.5 – Persuasive Message Using AIDA model.
  • Gain credibility (for yourself and your request) and (2) to make your readers believe that helping your product/service will indeed benefit the company. Close with a request for some specific action, and make that course of action as easy to follow as possible to maximize the chances of a positive response.
  • Include secondary research to support your argument, related to your product and/or service.
    • Explain what you will do in case the selected product or service does not initially sell as much as expected.
    • Indicate potential digital channels for marketing your product or service.
    • Consider cross-cultural and multinational implications.

Note: Main points from this memo will be included in the Week 5 Persuasive Presentation.

The following guidelines will help you effectively format specific memo elements, Business Communication Essentials, 7/e (Pg. 410):

  • Addressees. When sending a memo to a long list of people, include the notation See distribution list or See below in the position at the top; then list the names at the end of the memo. Arrange this list alphabetically, except when high-ranking officials deserve more prominent placement. You can also address memos to groups of people–All Sales Representatives, Production Group, New Product Team.
  • Courtesy titles. You need not use courtesy titles anywhere in a memo; first initials and last names, first names, or even initials alone are often sufficient. However, use a courtesy title if you would use one in a face-to-face encounter with the person.
  • Subject line. The subject line of a memo helps busy colleagues quickly find out what your memo is about, so take care to make it concise and compelling.
  • Body. Start the body of the memo on the second or third line below the heading. Like the body of a letter, it’s usually single-spaced with blank lines between paragraphs. Indenting paragraphs is optional. Handle lists, important passages, and subheadings as you do in letters.
  • Writer’s initials. Unlike a letter, a memo doesn’t require a complimentary close or a signature, because your name is already prominent at the top. However, you may initial the memo–either beside the name appearing at the top of the memo or at the bottom of the memo.

Format consistent with APA guidelines.

Choose a minimum of 3 distinct performance appraisal systems. This must include those measuring tasks and those measuring behavioral performance.

Part A Appraising Performance: Methods

5–7 PowerPoint slides; 200–250 words speaker notes per slide; min. 4 references

The senior leadership at Matrix International Corporation now have a strong understanding of the importance of performance appraisal systems and their value to the company. Their knowledge came as a result of the information that you provided to them in your executive summary. The human resources department members and your supervisor, Annalise Zajac, the Director of Human Resources, are very proud of the foundation that you have built for them. It is clear that the senior leaders at Matrix have gained more trust in you and in the new performance appraisal system that you will develop.

Annalise has asked you to prepare a PowerPoint presentation in which you evaluate a minimum of 3 different types of performance appraisal systems. She states that the information that you gather from these systems can serve as examples for the development of the system for Matrix.

You continue with your research into various types of performance appraisal systems. The following must be included in your PowerPoint presentation:

Choose a minimum of 3 distinct performance appraisal systems. This must include those measuring tasks and those measuring behavioral performance.

Provide the detailed steps and components of each of the performance appraisal systems that were chosen.

Evaluate the similarities and differences between them.

Part B is a word document Appraisal Feedback process

400-600 words with a minimum of 2 scholarly references

As the chosen project leader for the development of a new performance appraisal system at Matrix International Corporation (MIC), you continue to conduct research on some of the concerns that were voiced by senior leadership regarding the present system at Matrix. One major complaint that came directly from the employees was related to “how” feedback was provided to them during their performance appraisal reviews. Some employees viewed their treatment as “disrespectful” and the information provided about them as “inaccurate.”

Your research has provided you with some significant learnings in this area. Complete the following:

Discuss what differentiates “good feedback practices” from “bad feedback practices.”

Discuss the evolution of the U.S. health care system and how both the development of policy and the management requirements have been influenced by traditions and values.

APA FORMAT with SOURCES NO OLDER THAN 5 years. PLEASE MAKE SURE THIS PAPER IS ORIGINAL AND AUTHENTIC. I WONT BE USING IT VERBATIM BUT I DO NEED RELIABLE AND RELEVANT INFORMATION

Instructor’s Comments:

Students should discuss the evolution of the U.S. health care system, how this has affected policy development, and how styles of management affect the operation of health care organizations including an aging workforce, cost of employee turnover, and how technology affects quality of staff as well as the effects of systems, critical policies, and public interest on successful management.

This is a broad topic, however, try to focus primarily on policies that have been created by the government such as how health insurance has evolved, to include Medicare and Medicaid.

Identify 1–2 local examples of critical infrastructure.

In terms of critical infrastructure and key resources (CIKR), an asset is a person, structure, facility, information, material, or a process that has value. For example, in the transportation sector, a bridge would be an asset.

network is a group of related components that interact with each other or share information to perform a function. For example, a light rail system that crosses multiple jurisdictions in a large metropolitan area would be considered a network.

system is any combination of facilities, personnel, equipment, procedures, and communications integrated for a specific purpose. For example, the U.S. Interstate Highways comprise a system within the transportation sector.

sector consists of a logical collection of interconnected assets, systems, or networks that provide a common function to society, the economy, or the government. For example, the transportation sector consists of vast, open, accessible, interconnected systems, which include the following:

  • Aviation
  • Maritime
  • Pipeline
  • Highway
  • Freight rail
  • Mass transit

Address the following in a 3–4-page paper:

  • For each of the 16 Critical U.S. Infrastructure sectors and key resources (CIKR), do the following:
    • Identify 1–2 local examples of critical infrastructure.
    • Briefly describe the examples, and explain how they are operated and utilized.
    • Provide any information that you feel is unique to each sector.
  • In your local community, research the infrastructure, and identify one particular element that may be of particular interest to a terrorist or vulnerable to natural or man-made disaster.
    • Are there any protective measures in place to ensure its safety? Describe such protective measures.

Be sure to reference all sources using APA style.

What types of risk must be managed in the healthcare setting?  For example, what specific types of risks are commonly associated with the healthcare setting?

respond to this post.  250 words and apa cite and ask a question

What types of risk must be managed in the healthcare setting?  For example, what specific types of risks are commonly associated with the healthcare setting?

Risk management in healthcare is far more important than in any other industry.  An organization such as a hospital, expands and executes risk management strategies in order to prevent and ease any financial losses.  Particularly in healthcare, risk management can be the difference between life and death. Unrewarded risk and rewarded risks are the two major risks that must be managed in a healthcare setting. “Unrewarded risk is defined as the prerequisites: Occupational Safety and Heath Administration (OSHA) requirements with health and safety standards, Joint Commission standards, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) requirements, etc.” (Youngberg, 2011, p. 7).  “Rewarded risks, on the other hand, are those that you can undertake to spur value creation.  New business acquisitions, new models of care, new clinical services-all are designed to add value, not to sustain the status quo.” (Youngberg, 2011, p. 7).

TOPIC 2

Chapter 10 in the required text discusses laws related to aspects of patient care.  What are these laws?  Are there related laws other than these in your state’s statues and regulations?  If so, what are they?

Laws need to be set in place for us to follow a certain protocol.  Five health care laws that protect the rights of the patients are as follows:  The Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act which requires care providers to deliver medical services despite the patients’ ability to pay, The Stark Law entails baring care providers from referring a patient to a peer or family member, The Anti-Kickback Statute, bars offering, receiving, or soliciting assets in return for federally subsidized medical patronage and covers the referrals from anyone for any federal service, The Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act promotes effective technology application among care providers, and The Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act of 2008 has put a stop to researchers producing medical breakthroughs by genome sequencing and other scientific developments. The state of Florida has the Patient Safety Act which encourages the development of patient safety organizations that work with both clinicians and healthcare organizations to identify, analyze, and reduce the risks and dangers that is associated with patient care.
