Altered states of consciousness: for example dreams and trances and the consciousness of children or the insane: are disturbing because 1) these forms of consciousness arise from the same physical reality as more normal consciousness, and 2) they form an alternative construct wherein to understand physical reality. This is disturbing only if we assume that states of consciousness are mutually exclusive. Insofar as the same subject can experience different forms of consciousness (dreams and waking reality) they need not be mutually exclusive. rather, the fear is that a totally different worldview, and therefore a totally different mode of operating in the world, maybe appropriate. For example, it would be unsettling if someone managed to convince us that feudalism is the correct worldview and therefore the correct modus operandi. Our defence of the current worldview (industrial capitalism) would be motivated not only by apprehensions of the alteration in our individual condition (from factory-owner to serf) but perhaps even more by our belief in the props (e.g. belief in free speech and free enterprise) of the current worldview. Our values and beliefs are ultimately determined by our social existence. our knowledge of the world is based on our social relations and conditions.

The thesis he posited in contradistinction to Rene Descartes’ “Cogito ergo sum” and which is central to Karl Marx’s body of work is that “It is not the consciousness of men that determines their existence, but their social existence that determines their consciousness” (Critique of Political Economy 2). Existence itself does not depend on consciousness, much less on meta- consciousness. neither does life or productivity depend on consciousness. Rather, given a certain social structure and an individual’s relations to it, subjective consciousness arises from physical reality. Physical reality encompasses everyday material activity (Burke 3), which is determined by the configuration of the individual or socioeconomic class in the current relations of production.&nbsp.

Compose a 500 words assignment on recovery period. Needs to be plagiarism free! Ans1) The US law forbids automatic termination in many scenarios to protect the rights of employed officers. One cannot terminate an officer without warnings simply because the said officer performed immoral or unethical acts. or perhaps, arrived to work in an inebriated state. If an officer is found to be sexually harassing other officers, or passing on racist remarks, there are procedures present that must be followed. Very rare cases allow automatic termination. However, for the sake of this answer, these laws shall be ignored. As the Police Chief, I would recommend automatic termination if one or multiple of my law enforcement officers were to commit the following offences or behavior(s):

I. Sexism, Racism, or any other biases,

II. Using their title/uniform for personal benefits/advantages or for bullying others.

The institute of law enforcement runs on the basis of mutual respect. the civilian respects the officer and the officer respects the civilian, not considering him/herself superior because of his uniform. An officer must, at all times, remain unbiased so as not to obstruct his judgement during his duty. The above stated behaviors are, to me, the most likely to incite the opposite feelings. Biases arise because there is no respect for one’s fellows. Prejudice leads to hatred, which then manifests itself into hate crimes. And these crimes simply grow in magnitude. An automatic termination would set an example. The second behavior shows a lack of respect for the very job. By not respecting the profession of law enforcement, one cannot be considered an officer – it becomes contradictory in nature. This sort of behavior leads to bullying and taking advantage of others.

The “recovery phase provides a ‘window of opportunity’ for risk reduction” (Christoplos). The recovery period simply refers to the phase, after the occurring of any crime, where the victims involved recover from their losses. This does not necessarily mean emotional losses. If, for instance, a theft took place in a shop, the recovery phase/period would include the recovering from the financial loss, the traumatic experience of being held at gun point (perhaps), and the relief and rehabilitation (not necessarily in mobile terms) of the victims.

This period is often called the window of opportunity for risk reduction. Risk reduction refers to the actual trimming down of the risk of any crime. What this statement, thus, means is this: when a crime occurs, a situation arises in which the involved actors (victims, civilians or the cops) are given an opportunity to reduce risk for future such happenings.

Mr. Christoplos wrote a report on the window of opportunity for disaster risk reduction that arises in a recovery period after a disaster strikes. While he speaks of natural calamities, we draw analogy from it to understand it in case of crime. He explains that “the disaster experience generates new knowledge, bringing together various stakeholders around a shared awareness of the risk” (Christoplos). Weakness of institutions, policies, and methods of law, corrupt actors and all flaws become apparent after the disaster, or in this case, crime. This leads to steps being taken to not only help recover but also to prevent this from happening again. Therefore, a recovery period is often called a window of opportunity for risk reduction.

The bank also needs to provide the record of the employee who was not given heavy packets of checks for processing to prove that white employee was attending the training program and the training period of that white employee was yet to finish.

If I were the EEOC District Director, I would take a decision in support of Ruth Wittman. My explanation for such a decision would be based on the issues highlighted by Ruth, indicating the practice of racial discrimination by the manager. Ruth gave three arguments, wherein she has stated color as the cause of giving Ruth a rough and biased treatment by the bank. The concerned bank did not present the specific records before the EEOC District Director to prove its argument. instead, the bank preferred to give reference to the policy and procedure and ignored the need to present some hard evidence against the blame of Ruth. Still, George can manage things from his end. He should relegate all job functions to the next tier of functionaries involved in planning, organizing, and handling the transportation department. Only major functionaries should be assigned larger responsibilities. There should be a distribution of job roles to avoid overload to any staffer. Moreover, to create a feeling of discipline among the employees, George should hold regular meetings with all the employees to establish unity of purpose for the tension-free and coordinated working of the department.&nbsp.

Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, and Ronald Wayne founded Apple Inc. in 1976. The company’s headquarters are in Cupertino in South Korea. The company is a dealer of designer software, electronics, and provision of computer services (OGrady, 2012). Samsung, a company in the same field, began its journey in 1938 under the foundation of Lee Byung- chul in Daegu, which is located in South Korea (Lee, 2006). This paper aims to evaluate the two companies in terms of product, place, promotion, and price.

creating a thesis and an outline on Christian Faith. Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide.

I need help creating a thesis and an outline on Christian Faith. Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide. An abstract is required. In order to understand the faith of Christians, it is very important to identify and discuss some of the major components of Christianity that are followed and practiced by Christians around the globe. Nowadays, the world is suffering from tormented sufferings due to the different wars, poverty, unemployment, fraud, and a number of other factors that have anguished this globe at a very greater extent. Still, a huge number of inhabitants are strong in their faith on the Jesus Christ and other imperative components of the Christianity.

Christianity

Jesus of Nazareth has centered His teachings on life according to the New Testament, and a monotheistic religion was formed that is referred as Christianity. Old Testament has prophesied the Jesus as the Son of God, as well as, the Messiah for the world. According to the consensus of the year 2005, there were estimated 2.2 billion adherents, which made the Christianity as the largest religion with the highest number of followers around the world. (McGrath, 2006) Europe, America, Australia, and the Philippine Islands are some of the locations, where the religion is predominant as compared with the other locations. In addition, New Zealand, and Sub-Saharan Africa have also major number of the Christian believers in their region. Nowadays, Africa and Asia are also predominating in this religion rapidly. China and South Korea are the particular ones in this regard.

A significant diversity of belief has always been observed within the Christianity. Certain core doctrines have been considered as the essential one by mainstream of the Christianity.

social psychology: religious fundamentalism

I need some assistance with these assignment. social psychology: religious fundamentalism Thank you in advance for the help! Fundamentalism, on the other hand, refers to the ideology whereby the person holds that his beliefs are not only completely true and absolute but that these views should be imposed on others as well. In the words of Bruce Lawrence (1989), fundamentalism is “the affirmation of religious authority as holistic and absolute, admitting of neither criticism nor reduction. it is expressed through the collective demand that specific creedal and ethical dictates derived from scripture be publicly recognized and legally enforced”. The main idea behind fundamentalism is “contending with modernity and regaining religious identity” (H. Paul Chalfant, 1993). Fundamentalists believe that modernity is essentially against orthodoxy (James D. Hunter, 1993). This term was coined during the late nineteenth and early twentieth century, and though, in the beginning, it was used to refer to American Protestants, now it is used for the adherents of other religions too, though most often to those of Islam.

Most, if not all, of the religions, have their share of these religious fundamentalists who have certain similar traits, or “family resemblances” (Wittgenstein, 1968). The difference between fundamentalists of different religions is mostly the tenets of their faith, however, the way they operate is essentially the same irrespective of their religious beliefs and inclinations. Though, culturally and religiously, the reasons for people to become fundamentalists may vary, yet once a person becomes a fundamentalist s/he essentially operates in the same fashion irrespective of which religion s/he adheres to.

The fundamentalists see their way of life, which they see as ordained by the Almighty, threatened by the “modern” society, and they strive to take the society back into the past where, according to them, the rule was of God and the people truly followed the dictates of God.

Your assignment is to prepare and submit a paper on module 4 slp. Hershey’s company debt ratio and debt to equity ratio calculation Long term liabilities 795,142 (http finance.yahoo.com) Short-term liabilities = $166,875 (http://finance.yahoo.com)

Equity $1,604,834

Debt Ratio =&nbsp.

Total Liabilities

Total Assets

Total liabilities include both the current and non-current liabilities. (http://accountingexplained.com/financial/ratios/debt-ratio)

Total liabilities = 1,408,022+ $1,795,142+ $434,068+ $104,204+ $11,218= $3,752,654

Total liabilities = $3,752,654

Total assets =$ 5,357,488

Debt ratio= 3,752,654/ 5,357,488

Or

Debt Ratio=

Total Liabilities

Total liabilities+ equity

= 3,752,654/ (3,752,654+1,604,834)

= 3,752,654/ 5,357,488

Debt ratio =0.7

debt-to-equity ratio =

Total Liabilities

Total equity

Total liabilities = $3,752,654

Total equity = $1,604,834

Debt-to-equity ratio = 3,752,654/ 1,604,834

=2.34

Debt ratio

A debt ratio of 0.5 or less is suitable. With this sort of a debt ratio it would imply that, half of this firm’s assets are funded by debts. However with a debt ratio of 0.7, as is the case here, it means that more than half of Hershey’s company assets are financed by debt. This might be because Hersheys company is capital intensive and therefore depends more on debt compared to service-based firms,

The debt-to-equity ratio alternatively analyzes the company’s debt to the stockholder equity.

A debt ratio of 0.7 may indicate a debt-to-equity ratio greater than 1. In the two cases, this number signifies a firm relying more on credit for its operations. These ratios are too high and I would recommend Hersheys company to take steps to pay off its debt.

Competitors

1. Nestle

debt-to-equity ratio =

Total Liabilities

Total equity

Total liabilities = $56.3 billion

Total equity = $64.14 billion

Debt-to-equity ratio = 56.3/ 64.14

=0.87

Nestle company has a lower debt-equity ratio. This is because equity provides majority of the financing rather than debt.

2. Mondelez international inc (MDLZ)

debt-to-equity ratio =

Total Liabilities

Total equity

Total liabilities = $40,184,000&nbsp.

Total equity = $32,373,000&nbsp.

Debt-to-equity ratio = 40,184,000&nbsp./ 32,373,000&nbsp.

=1.24

Mondelez international Inc,debt-to-equity ratio is greater than one which means their assets are primarily financed with debt.

Conclusion

With a debt ratio of 0.7 which is less than 1 signifies that Hershey’s company has more assets than liabilities. This indicates that their risk is relatively high in comparison to the production industry mean. Financial ratios are essential in the financial evaluation of an organization. They take an important role in figuring out whether or not a company is making profits as well as if the business is able to meet its and long and short term financial requirements. Financial ratios are additionally utilized by creditors to ascertain whether or not a company could get credit services.

Self-esteem is often regarded as the person’s assessment of his own value. It makes or breaks success either suffer from the lack or excess of it (Adler & Stewart, 2004). High self-esteem is usually seen in relation to good leadership, though good leadership does not necessitate a horde of followers. As Plato once said, “The first and best victory is to conquer self” (cited in LeadershipNow, 1996-2009). A person who cannot lead himself cannot lead others. This would deal with his credibility and social contribution a hard blow. Self-leadership should come first before attempts to lead others. Create a 1 page page paper that discusses post-stonewall lgbtq civil rights and lesbian feminism (responses). Response for Post To begin with, the seems to have covered all the three major questions that wereapplied to write the topic. He begins by a describing the comprehensive information that answers the first questions and continues with this trend to the other questions. The description of information regarding issues ascribed to sexual orientation, gender and woman activism is also properly presented by the writer. He/she confirms the validity of the information provided by indicating the secondary sources of information he/she used to gather information. In this regard, the topic is properly covered by the writer. however, the major issue that arising in relation to his/her presentation is that he/she did not focus on other extra information, but rather focused strictly on answering the three major questions that guided the task.

Response for Post 2

The writer begins properly by providing a discussion the directly answers question one. He/she goes further provides supportive information regarding the facets of the first question. However, discussions regarding the second and the third questions are presented in a vague and a generalized manner, with the writer using only one in-text citation. In addition, he/she goes further and describes the pertinence of the week’s reading towards enhancing his/her understanding of the issues of LBGTQ community. There is also the use of poor language i.e. “we realize” and lack of adequate referencing. However, the entire presentation is quite appropriate as it depicts that the writer made an attempt to answer all the research questions, except for the vague discussion of question 2 and 3.

I need help creating a thesis and an outline on Action Research- The starting point speech. Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide. An abstract is required. Action Research- Starting Point of Research of Action Research- Starting Point of Research

During the time when I was researching a number of activities to help my pupils for learning English language at the beginning of this semester, I came up with the inquiry method. I asked my pupils their reasons behind learning English. There were different types of answers that I received during the inquiry session but the most interesting answer that I received was that learning English is important so that I can become rich. I almost got stunned as to why someone would actually consider English language learning as a way to become rich. On discussion with the same student, I got to know that people consider English important for getting a decent job which will help them gain wealth in return.

This almost astonished me and led me to research the significance of learning English with respect to the impact of pupil’s interest and overall learning achievement. This helped me a great deal in initiating my starting point of research. For the purpose of understanding the impact of pupil’s interest in learning English language on overall learning achievement, I would categorize pupil into groups i.e. intensified interest in which students will be listed who claimed that learning English is very much important for them. The second group will include students who claim that learning English is to understand information in English whenever needed. This will help me understand the students who have more or less interest in learning English (Altrichter).

I will also conduct a survey from both the groups before and after undertaking complete activities and tests as per the curriculum. In this way I will be able to measure the learning by evaluation undertaken so far throughout the semester. Also, to note is the fact that there have been a number of researches which have evaluated the learning patterns of non-speaker individuals in English courses but the aspect has been relatively touched to a shallow extent. It is for this reason that my research will help understanding the student’s self-implied approach to learn English language (Altrichter).

As a starting point to the research, I will be taking a closer look at the databases to evaluate the past contribution made by different investigators done so far. This will not just help me to learn about the research method but also help in understanding the ethical and moral concerns of the research. I am also going to help my pupil learn English as per the approach they would want to take in the semester instead of putting my own chosen research criteria (Altrichter).

The research will be of great significance for my teaching practice because I will be able to understand the psyche of a student when he enrolls in a course. This will help me to teach students that they need to set goals instead of following the bandwagon. The factor of following the trend shall be removed with the help of my research. At the moment, it is important for the students to prioritize activities and preferences.
