Introduction

In my entire life, I have believed in three main issues that promote societal development. the spirit of hard work, peaceful co-existence as well as proper community health. In my view, these are the pillars of community development in almost all the nations and there are various policies and political agendas that have been formulated and implemented to ensure that the three pillars exist within the societies. In this discussion, I will explicit the reasons that have facilitated my belief in these three imperative issues and also describe the policies that have been implemented to ensure that they occur amongst our society.

Discussion

Peaceful co-existence within every society is pertinent in promoting development. it is apparent that in the contemporary global society countries that experience frequent civil violence and conflicts are among the poorest in terms of economic and social developments. This is because conflict and violence has resulted to immigration of business investors, development experts as well as a massive number of their population who could have participated in developing their nation. Conflict between neighbors or countries may also result to loss of lives especially of innocent skilled people who may promote the rapid economical development of a nation (Council of International Relations 2008, n.p)

There are various policies that have been formulated and implemented by different stakeholders to ensure that there is a peaceful co-existence within the society for instance. famous presidents like Franklyn D. Roosevelt advocated for peaceful co-existence between nations, an action which saved the world from a large extent of barbarism. Currently various peace policies have been implemented to ensure that societies and nations live peacefully for example, the UN Peace Building Commission that was developed in 2005 which has thirty one member state and it is geared towards promoting peace between the member state nations through the development and monitoring of peace building activities.

The second societal aspect that I believe in is the spirit of hard work among individuals, societies and nations. Hard work in every development activity is the pathway that leads individuals from poverty. it is imperative for everybody aspiring to be successful to commit himself/herself in all activity he/she conducts. The fruits of hard work are also important in reducing immoral activities among the society such as robbery and violence that are generally conducted by idle people. Individual commitment and dedication towards performing duties that generate livelihoods is also pertinent to the overall development of a nation.

There are various campaigns and advocacy activities that have been conducted by various stakeholders to create awareness among the community on the importance of hard work and participatory community work. These campaigns are also meant to educate the community on sustainable development practices (Capacity Building). they are mainly conducted by Non-governmental organizations as well as governmental institutions.

Consequently, I also believe in proper community health as a foundation and pre-requisite for community development. A society free of diseases and illnesses is relatively in a better position to experience rapid economic and social development. this occurs in the sense that most resources that might have been directed towards fighting disease are channeled towards developing the society. Various government programs and non-governmental health program have been implemented to combat diseases, for instance: The government of the United States of America recognizes the pertinence of societal health in economic development and therefore through the department of health it has implemented health programs to ensure that proper health is maintained. On the promise of high returns, he lures the buyer by initially selling a minimum amount on the basis of testing the waters. Then, when the stocks have had a minimal percentage gain, Harry would fall at ease with Seth as his broker. However, when the stocks dropped, Harry wanted to pull out his money but Seth reels him back in by declaring he has information that the drug will actually soon be approved. He pushes it further claiming there is another product to hit the market and eventually was successful in attaining a $50,000 dollar investment from Harry. The latter had consequently invested his family’s entire savings (Younger, Boiler Room).

These actions constitute fraud in the inducement contrary to law. The elements of this kind of fraud are: “1. a false representation. 2. of a fact. 3. that is material and. 4. made with knowledge of its falsity and the intention to deceive (scienter). and 5. which representation is justifiably relied on” (Mann and Roberts 211). More specifically, it is fraud through false representations. Since ordinarily, nondisclosure in sales does not constitute an actionable offense, the misrepresentation must have the following requisites: “(1) a person fails to disclose a fact known to him. (2) he knows that the disclosure of that fact would correct a mistake of the other party as to a basic assumption on which that party is making the contract. and (3) nondisclosure of the fact amounts to a failure to act in good faith and in accordance with reasonable standards of fair dealing” (Mann and Roberts 211-212).

There is material false representation in the movie since all the information Seth told Harry were not based on any factual assertion but were just fabrications made by JT Marlin . Based on these representations, people bought the shares he offered. In fact, despite knowledge of the escape plans of Michael Brantley such as the phone-filled room on the other building or that paper were concealed and even the fact that he saw that Med Patent Technologies was a sham, he did not do anything about it and continued trading. There was intent to deceive by JT Marlin and its brokers such as Seth Davis and these representations were relied on by the people they pitched to such as Harry Reynard. In violation of the safeguards provided for by law against trading schemes such as this, people like Reynard will win in a court of law.

I had to advocate for her by convincing the hospital management to let her stay for two more weeks while we find the best means to approach this issue. I convinced her to report the matter to the police, her husband was arrested, and she went home after two weeks. She came after two months completely healing and said her husband had agreed to go to counseling for his behavior. She even brought me a present. The above experience among others prepared me for FNP because I need more training and information to deal with such patient and family needs successfully.

My short-term goal is to gain more information and experience in clinical leadership and advocacy in terms of being able to make critical decisions and taking the relevant steps in advocating for patient and family care needs while undertaking my roles as a family nurse practitioner. I also want to gain knowledge and expertise in caring for patients of all ages and different conditions with utmost professionalism. My long-term goal is to combine my experience in a variety of nursing settings and patient care and the FNP training to help improve patient and family care in a variety of settings both in health institutions and at home.
