Write 2 pages with APA style on Common Sense in Education. Beyond merely telling a unique story, this particular plot and sub-theme help to show a level of disconnect between a generation gap in society. Ultimately, higher education is something that has only recently come to be promoted as useful for each and every individual in society. In years past, higher education was something that was seemingly reserved only for the upper echelons of the very rich were those that sought to further a specific career goal. However, within the current time, societal pressure encourages each and every individual, regardless of social stature or level of financial income to pursue higher education as a means of bettering their own life. In many ways, the… Upon higher education and the importance of engaging with it has created a more educated society. However, as a means of playing the devil’s advocate, there has been a distinct loss with regards to the “common sense” that the father of this particular story seeks to promote. Due to the fact that individuals are not out working in the real world during their early adult life, they are oftentimes insulated with regards to the commonsense understandings that they should have concerning the way in which the world operates.

Ultimately, as a means of promoting education and furthering a level of understanding based upon the story that was read, it would be the recommendation of this particular student that the process of education should not only seek to impart valuable theoretical ideas and understandings with regards to the world, it should also attempt to promote a level of common sense understanding with respect to the way in which the physical world operates. Although theories and conjectures of science and the social sciences are without a doubt necessary as a means of furthering inquiry and understanding key concepts of the way in which human thought is developed, there is literally no substitute for developing a level of common sense that can be utilized both within the educational realm as well as within everyday life.

personal mental model

I need some assistance with these assignment. personal mental model Thank you in advance for the help! Belief involves what one thinks is true as to him and not necessarily what has been proven to be true. It is from what one believes in that result in one’s predictions and action plans. What one believes is enough to make accurate predictions as of the phenomena underlying.

One of my personal mental models is reasoning based on stereotypical beliefs. The fact that I have grown up to become familiar with the numerous stereotypes used in the creation of categories of people from different races has contributed to a strong belief that some ethnic communities have undesirable behavior. This is the reason why I believe that apartment owners should consider an individual’s race or ethnic background before the acceptance of tenants. According to my belief, this will serve to prevent cases of crises, which may result if people from some racial communities are tenants in the apartments. Experts seeking to describe how personal mental models are formed have highlighted that the conscious, the subconscious, and the creative subconscious parts of the brain are involved. However, the conscious mind is involved in the thinking process, which determines how an individual perceives different events, associations that lead to the perception, and the evaluation process that follows. After these steps, then a cause of action is chosen. Using my belief described above, it is critical to validate its outcome because the conscious mind is subject to making errors and inaccurate perceptions.

In the validation of a mental model, there are a number of steps taken to ensure that the model created suits the predicted results in the course of proving it to be a true fact. In this section, the different steps used in the validation process will be analyzed in a bid to validate the personal mental model described above.

The formulation of mental models takes into consideration the fact that such mental models include only what one thinks and does not take into account what is actually true.

write an article on The Plaza Hotel at New York City. It needs to be at least 500 words.

Hello, I am looking for someone to write an article on The Plaza Hotel at New York City. It needs to be at least 500 words. The original model of this hotel was changed after being renovated. When this hotel reopened in 2007, it was its 100th anniversary. It had undergone refurbishment at a cost of 4400 million. The internal structure and model of the hotel was changed from the original model to a newer model. Originally, when this hotel was constructed, it contained 805 rooms, 500 bathrooms, 10 elevators, a palm court with a Tiffany leaded glass-domed ceiling, large private suites, and a two-story ballroom. However, on its re-opening in 2007, it had 282 guestrooms and 181 apartments (Turkel, 2010).

This hotel is also associated with historical events in New York. For instance, important political meetings in history were held at the Plaza Hotel. The Beatles, on their first visit to the USA, stayed in the plaza hotel, in February 1964. In addition, the Plaza Hotel hosted Katherine Graham and Truman Capote’s “Black and white” in the grand ballroom on 28 November 1966. Most importantly, in 1985, leaders of different developed countries converged at the Plaza Hotel to brainstorm financial global issues. It is while here that these political leaders signed the Plaza Accord after them reaching an agreement. These finance leaders were mainly from West Germany, France, Britain, the United States, and Japan. The main agenda of the meeting was to agree on ways of lowering the price of the US dollar against the currencies of other nations.

The Plaza hotel has in the past accommodated a variety of famous people. These include performers, famous guests, and movie stars. For instance, those known to have visited include Elizabeth Taylor, Clara Bow, the Beatles, Cary Grant, Scott Fitzgerald, Marilyn Monroe, George Cohan, among others. These are famous authors, and actors in the world (Hession & Pickrel, 2007).

The Plaza hotel is considered an oasis of culture. It has managed to sustain and enhance the culture of New Yorkers through the numerous services it offers. It, however, adds a touch of modernity to the New York culture, amid the bustling metropolis. Plaza’s five-star service is its tradition of luxury definition. It offers shopping facilities, a fitness and wellness center, a champagne bar, restaurants, meeting rooms, ballrooms, among others. All these facilities enhance the culture of New Yorkers, as they are a definition of the day-to-day activities of people living in New York (Turkel, 2010).

The Plaza Hotel also relates to the history and development of New York in various ways. Historically, this hotel was established in 1907, thereby ranking as the oldest hotel in New York. This means that it has equally shared most of the history of New York, be it in political aspects or economic aspects. The historical events of New York, therefore, had an impact on the hotel operation. This hotel has also positively contributed to the development of New York’s economy. Most economists consider it a treasure and trophy to New York. Being such a big hotel, it is an important player in the capital markets of New York, thereby making it a contributor to the economic development of New York (Turkel, 2010).

Create a 5 pages page paper that discusses learning and conditioning applied to psychology. Some of the founders and early practitioners of the learning and conditioning models are Ivan Pavlov, who first came upon the idea of the independent stimulus in provoking behavior in a subject, and Edward Thorndike, who came up with the Law of Effect and the ideas of rewards and punishments in regards to voluntary behavior in operant conditioning.

Learning and conditioning are vital parts of any human’s mental, physical, and emotional growth, which is one of the main reasons why I choose this as my topic. Without learning and conditioning, human beings – as well as other living creatures – would continue to make the same mistakes, over and over again. It is because of conditioning that we are able to adapt to certain situations and gain an understanding of why we react or do not react, in the ways that we do or do not.

Learning and conditioning apply to psychology in the sense that psychologists are able to observe and understand how their subjects learn in response to their given situations and environments. They can also research and discover other methods to use on their subjects to see how they respond to the situation. It allows psychologists to understand the workings of the subject’s mind and their ability to adapt to their environment.

Classical conditioning is an associative learning process by which the subject is presented with a neutral stimulus, or a conditioned stimulus, which is an event that does not normally call for a behavioral response and a stimulus that has some significance towards behavior or reaction, which is also called an unconditioned stimulus and unconditioned response (Pavlov). One the conditioned and unconditioned stimuli are repeatedly put together, they eventually become associated and the subject begins to produce a behavior towards that conditioned stimulus.

One of the most famous experiments in classical conditioning – the experiment that brought out the theories and methods of classical conditioning – is Pavlov’s dogs.

Provide a 6 pages analysis while answering the following question: Everything That Does Not Kill Us Makes Us Stronger. Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide. An abstract is required. Conflicts have been defined in a numerous way but one common theme that runs across its various meanings is the notion of the clash, of opposition, of the fight, of struggle. And I am not unfamiliar with it…

Still fresh in my memory is one conflict that I have been through prior to my coming to college. When everybody was busy and frantic about what they were going to do right after their secondary education, I was already certain that I would be pursuing college. In fact, I was really resolute in pursuing a degree. Fortunately for me, my parents and I were basically in agreement regarding this matter. However, that was where we only meet.

As I look into my future and try to imagine what I would someday become I have realized that what I want is to be in the field of sciences and to be more particular in the field of Physics. Or if not Physics then I would love to do Philosophy. Although, to be honest, I really do not know what I would be doing right after finishing Physics or Philosophy but still, I have set my heart on it. Unfortunately, my mother has a different plan. She wants me to enter in Hotel and Restaurant Management or Nursing because that is the trend and those two fields are in demand. Deep in my heart, I know that she is correct. And that what she is trying to do is that she is opening to me other possibilities or channels that I may not be seeing or taking notice of.

But you see I cannot just throw away the things that really catch my fancy, the stuff that I love to do, the things that I would like to learn. Besides, being young, I am still being idealistic. I have this notion that in college the rudiments of textbooks should no longer burden one. But one rather should already see the beauty of knowledge itself. So, I often tell myself in college, I will be pursuing my interests. But you see reality checks. I found myself in a situation wherein my self-interests conflict with that of my mother. Though I see it as a kind of conflict that will lead to a positive solution but still I know at the same time that I cannot have both.&nbsp.

prepare and submit a term paper on Overcoming the Difficulties of Frustrations about Sexual Orientation by the Teenager.

You will prepare and submit a term paper on Overcoming the Difficulties of Frustrations about Sexual Orientation by the Teenager. Your paper should be a minimum of 1250 words in length. Goals are important as they helping to direct energy towards a certain direction. At the micro level, the goal was to help the student gain social stability, at the mezzo level, to help the student deal with sexual orientation, and at the macro level, the goal was to come up with strategies that help the student deal with conflict, social stability, and sexual orientation.

iii. Relationship to goal tasks included: relating with peers to gain social stability and help in the formulation of strategies to help deal with conflict problems, social stability, and sexual orientation.

This is an evaluation method to evaluate the extent to which an identified set of tasks has been accomplished (Kirst-Ashman, Kirst & Hull, 2011). The chart consists of three columns. task column, the degree of achievement column and rating column. Rating is done from 0-4 where a rating of zero means no opportunity to work on the task, a rating of one means tasks in which no progress was made. Maximum rating is 4 meaning task completed fully. Progress is calculated by multiplying the total number of goals by the maximum rating point (5 goals × 4 points), total ratings on the chart are then divided by this number and converted to a percentage.

The first procedure here is to enhance the client’s commitment to carry out tasks. Involving client on the formulation of tasks is important in ensuring commitment. Choosing a task that is easier to perform in order to achieve immediate results (Kirst-Ashman, Kirst & Hull, 2011) will act as a motivating factor as results improve confidence in the fact that a task is achievable. Communication with the client on how important achievement of a task is will help client commitment.

What follows is planning the details of carrying out the tasks. First is to establish a commitment to perform the tasks. What is to be done and who is to do it represent important parts of planning (Kirst-Ashman, Kirs & Hull, 2011).

Compose a 500 words assignment on gender stereotypes in the media.

Compose a 500 words assignment on gender stereotypes in the media. Needs to be plagiarism free! The concept of gender stereotyping is one that is prevalent in society and which continues to drive forward thought processes and beliefs about sexuality. When looking at different ads and concepts, it can be seen that gender stereotypes is one of the driving factors of commercials. These are used to create a specific impression about gender and what is expected with both feminine and masculine roles. To understand the gender expectations in a culture, one can look at and analyze various ads and the expectations that come from them. Within each of these are gender definitions of what a male or female type should be. When analyzing several commercials from Gender Stereotype (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cSIEXtDElOM), specific roles can be seen that are based on expectations of each gender.

The first set of gender stereotypes presented in the first commercial show a distinct difference between the masculine and feminine roles. The male is seen working at a computer, which implies the function that men are supposed to have in society. When the woman comes into the room, she immediately begins undressing and getting into lingerie. Throughout the commercial, the woman represents the sex object that is able to entice men. Even though she walks in with a business suit, it becomes secondary to the lingerie. The masculine role is furthered by this when the sexual representation of the woman is able to interrupt the work that the man is doing in the commercial. More importantly, other men that see this on the webcam show the appeal to the sex object and the concept of men is based on the corporate and work figure.

The second commercial that is used implies the same concepts about gender stereotype. The female figure is again seen as a sexual object through the lack of actions that she takes. She is seen bathing in the sun with a skimpy bikini and is unaware of what is occurring around her. The male is in the background with a fake lawn mower, which he is using to watch the woman. The gender role of the woman is based on creating a specific sexual object and figure, while the male looking at the female implies a working man that can easily be distracted or changed by watching the opposite sex.

The third commercial holds to the same gender stereotypes that are incorporated in the media. There are several women that are seen throughout the commercial. Each are wearing shorter dresses, even with the work clothes that they are wearing. The size and figure of each of the women is a skinnier look, with longer hair, both which imply sexual figures. The roles that the women play in this commercial are all related to household work and duties that are outside of regular work. The gender stereotypes imply not only sex objects and expectations with look, but also the work figure that is domesticated. The male that is in the figure is a Mormon who is sharing the Bible with others. The male rides a bike by several of the women who automatically have an appeal to him because of the perfume he has. The implication in this commercial also shows the working male that is able to create a level of appeal and satisfaction through women’s expectations as the objective figure. Similar to the other commercials, the division in appeal is between the working male and the woman as a domesticated and sexual object.

The fourth clip shows the same gender stereotypes as the others with the representation of both men and women. The women in this commercial are again seen as sexual objects, all which are speaking about sex and relationships. When they are talking, they are responding to what the man wants with sex, such as the woman stating that she falls asleep after sex, doesn’t mind a missed birthday and is interested in a friend joining. The male is also seen as a stereotype and is represented as only relating to football, comic books and other masculine hobbies. The relationship dialogue also relates to what the “typical male” will do in a given situation and how he wishes a woman would respond. From both male and female perspectives, there is a specific association with how women and men should interact in relationships.

In the last series of clips, there are specific gender stereotypes that are directly stated from the media. Statements such as “a hoe is a hoe,” “the nagging wife,” Hillary Clinton stating “take out the garbage,” all present the domesticated woman that nags at the male. This moves into even deeper statements, such as the news reporter saying that it is men’s fault that they are allowing women to take over the world. References to Hillary Clinton as being too domineering and still speaking like a woman are also made through these clips. These several statements show that the expected stereotype for women is based on a domesticated wife or sexual object that shouldn’t have power in society. More importantly, the masculine role is one that opposes the woman as a work force or individual that can hold a specific amount of power.

The several clips that are seen in gender stereotyping have specific relationships to what is expected from both masculine and feminine ideals in society. The several clips show women as a domesticated figure as well as a sexual object that can please men. The masculine elements all show men as a working class figure that can be distracted by this. however, they hold more power and prestige within society. The comments made, as well as the representations and images that are in the commercials then create a specific stereotype about the different genders and the interactions that they should have in society.

Compose a 500 words assignment on a letter to my first-year roommate at babson.

Compose a 500 words assignment on a letter to my first-year roommate at babson. Needs to be plagiarism free! First of all, I want to tell you how incredibly excited I am to be your roommate at Babson in the coming year. I’m sure college is going to be an amazing experience, and I hope we will soon become good friends and can share it together.

I’m sure one of the things that concerns you most is what it will be like to live it with me as a roommate. Well, to be completely honest, there are some ways I will be an extremely easy person to live with, and some ways I might be a bit more difficult to put up with. One of the reasons that I will be easy to live with is that I am a fairly laid back person. I tend not to get worked up about things, and am fairly relaxed, so I would be surprised if much of what you did bothered me. I’m also fairly direct and honest, so if there is something that I think we need to talk about I’m just going to bring it up instead of letting it simmer or being passive aggressive – you never have to wonder if your pile of dirty gym clothes is bothering me – if it is I’ll come out and tell you right away, so if I say nothing you will know it’s not. I’m not especially neat nor especially messy, but a bit of a mess won’t bother me – if it will bother you then I can definitely keep cleaner. So those are all the ways I’m pretty easy to live with. One of the reasons I might be a pain in my sleep schedule – I tend to alternately be a very early riser or a night owl, and I tend to work best early in the morning or late at night. So my schedule is pretty erratic and might shift significantly throughout the year. If you’re like me, then this won’t be a problem, but if it is I’m sure we can work something out!

I decided to come to Babson for several reasons. One is definitely its spirit of entrepreneurship – I love the idea of starting your own business, of creating ideas and capitalizing on them, and competing with others to try to win market share, and, of course, profits.&nbsp.&nbsp.

Central to helping the recruiting panel decide on the most suitable candidate is the industrial/organizational psychologist’s ability to sift through the candidates by assessing their personality types, intelligence, and general psychological functioning. Through the administration of assessment tools designed to test personality types such as the MBTI, the psychologist will be able to recommend candidates with personality types suited to an accounting job. It is integral to note that some candidates might possess exceptional credentials. however, their personality types impede their ability to take on the responsibilities outlined in the job description. A regular panel of interviewers might be unable to pinpoint such a challenge without the expert advice of a psychologist.
