The yearly costs are $10,000 per homeless person. Some estimates showed that at any given night, more than 800,000 people are homeless in the United States (Feltey & Nichols, 2008, p.114). The demographics of the homeless have also become more diverse, as it shifted away from single males with mental and/or substance abuse problems toward an increasing number of homeless families with children and more single women (Koch, 2009. Lee, Price-Spratlen, & Kanan, 2003). A comprehensive national survey of America’s homeless showed that 34% of the homeless are homeless families, while 23% are children (Lee et al., 2003). In addition, homelessness is an exacerbating social issue.

According to the Coalition for the Homeless (2011), “the number of homeless New Yorkers who slept in the municipal shelter system during FY 2010 was 37 percent higher than in FY 2002.” The state of New York has been struggling to resolve this worsening social issue, but efforts, so far, have limited impact on chronic homelessness (Coalition for the Homeless, 2011).Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself [sic] and of his [sic] family, including food, clothing, housing, and medical care and necessary social services,…” (article 25(1) cited in The United Nations Centre for Human Settlements [UNCHS], 2000, p.9).Agenda 21, Chapter 7 of the UN reinforces the right to housing, as well as the right to be protected from unfair evictions of people from their homes and land (cited in UNCHS, 2000, p.9). This paper describes the problem of homelessness in New York and proposes permanent supportive housing (PSH) as a long-term solution to homelessness, especially to chronic homelessness, or those experiencing long-term homelessness.

Every man, woman, and child has a right to a decent shelter. Whether they have economic, substance abuse, or health problems, such as mental illnesses, they have a right to a home.

Active margin exists in the leading edge of the continent, where it crashes into an oceanic plate. Passive margin, on the other hand, refers to margins that exist in the other remaining coastlines, without any collision and subduction activities taking place. Walking onto the beach of each margin differs in that the active beach has the formation of different geographical features because if different activities such as earthquakes, whereas the passive beach remains relatively flat.A deep ocean trench is a depression in the deep ocean floor in the shape of an arc, while submarine canyon is a cutting into the continental shelf and slope making an end into the deep sea fan.

Ocean trenches, usually, go deeper into the ocean than a submarine canyon, with submarines hiding in both. The four sources of ocean sediments are terrigenous, biogenous, indigestible, and exogenous sediments. Terrigenous sediments are sediments formed on land then washed into the ocean by the action of rivers. Biogenous sediments refer to sediments resulting from the discarded parts of living organisms both on land and in the sea, with their entry into the ocean being similar to that of terrigenous sediments.

Indigestible sediments refer to shells, shell pieces, and fecal pellets as particles or other forms of sediment wrapped in the waste products of sediment-eating bottom dwellers in the ocean base. Finally, exogenous sediments are the particles from space, making a small percentage of the ocean sediments. Exogenous sediments get to the ocean floor by running waters into the ocean such as rivers after the sediments are deposited on the earth’s surface. Some of the sediments also fall directly into the oceans from space.

Hello, I am looking for someone to write an article on Should nationalism be discouraged Substantiate your answer with facts and examples. It needs to be at least 250 words.

Should Nationalism Be Discouraged?” Substantiate Your Answer With Facts And Examples Nationalism is a term that has mainly been utilized for the purposes of describing two probable phenomenon. It has been widely been used to describe the different attitudes that people develop and happen to care of their national identities. Nationalism has also been actively used when describing the actions that the citizens within a country take when they are seeking to sustain their self determination (D’Anieri 43).

The concepts of nationalism have mainly raised questions concerning the notions of a nation’s ethnicity, their cultural ties and common origins. In this view an individual’s claim to being a citizen of a nation may be considered as either voluntary or as involuntary (D’Anieri 48). In terms of our self-determination, the concepts of nationalism do raise questions as to whether these concepts must be comprehended as requiring an individual to acquire full citizenship with absolute authority over any domestic or international affairs.

These nationalism concepts also raise questions concerning whether an individual may require satisfying lesser requirements in order to exercise absolute forms of nationalism. With reference to the above facts, the concept of nationalism should therefore be encouraged. The concepts of nationalism have previously been used by different people who have mainly been unsatisfied by the inconsistencies that exist between the social orders of their people and their identification with a country’s traditional identity (D’Anieri 119).

Such a situation normally results in anomie, a situation that requires the intervention of nationalists for efficient resolutions to the people’s problems (D’Anieri 125). In such situations, the societies have had to reinterpreting their identities while eliminating those elements that are perceived as being unacceptable for the major reason of reunifying their communities. For example, in the 18th century, the concepts of nationalism brought about the French revolution when the French citizens decided to begin pushing for ethnic equality and popular sovereignties.

Another good example of an instance where nationalism has led to the self determination aimed at ensuring popular sovereignty occurred during the American Revolution (D’Anieri 122). The Cuban Revolution that was led by former leader, Fidel Castro is another example of an instance where the forces of nationalism encouraged the people’s self-determination that was aimed at ousting the government of Fulgencio Batista. His government, which was backed by the unpopular American government, had failed in ensuring the social rights of their citizens who heavily relied on Castro and his rebel forces to solve these anomalies (D’Anieri 124).

In these words, it can be understood that there was a form of awakening among the Korean people arising from their openness to external and internal influence that could have changed their independence status. Internal influence came from their willingness to embrace change that could facilitate the formation of the independence revolution. It is clear that some of the Korean elite class of scholars who obtained their education from abroad as well as other educated Koreans had the same perspective of empowering the Korean people for independence.

It is also clear that the American activists living in Korea might have a hand in the development of Korean pursuit for independence. The speaker is quoted mentioning the Christians from America to particularly having played an important role in the awakening of the Korean people (Pai, 160).From the above summary, the following points can also be enumerated, given the matters surrounding the rise of Korean cultural nationalism. Firstly, the influence of education that the Korean nationals obtained cannot be underestimated at the beginning of the sort of revolution that was to occur.

Secondly, foreign influence can be pointed out as a direct influence in the manner in which the revolution started in Korea. Thirdly, the combination of these factors in the shaping of the Korean mentality about their independence can be explored as an important synergism perspective.Apparently, the Korean movement and revolution began with the exiled elite who endeared to have the whole of the Korean population throw its weight behind their independence quest. In Robinson (48), the author observes that the exiled group of nationalists set their differences aside from 1919.

With the inception of the Shanghai Provisional Government, it became increasingly possible to have a platform to incorporate and involve the exiled community for meaningful development. A government for the Koreans was set up but was to operate from exile, according to the author. From these developments highlighted by the&nbsp.author, it is evident that the influence of the discourse was strongly emanating from the outside of the country.

Hi, need to submit a 1250 words paper on the topic Major Figure from the History of Psychology: Sigmund Freud.

It is said that Freud got his sense of humor from his father who was a merchant. He went to study medicine and under the guidance of a professor, Ernst Brucke became involved in research work. His interest and devotion to research studies is evidence of his tenacity, inquisitive mind, and his love for challenges. Freud had pursued his investigation on neurosis as a manifestation of one’s personality for years but finally had to give up as the research reached a dead end (Boeree, 2006). Freud’s original domain of research was neurophysiology from where he ventured to other related territories and dealt with complex concepts like psychoanalysis and the technique of hypnosis as a form of therapeutic treatment.

It was his association with Joseph Breuer who acted both as friend and mentor to Freud that gave him the opportunity to carry on his research in the field of neuropsychiatry. Breuer made him his assistant while dealing with Anna O’s case and together they wrote a book on hysteria based on their study of Anna O who suffered from chronic hysteria or as it is now known as conversion disorder (Boeree, 2006). It was later that Freud deciphered the element of repressed sexuality in the relationship between Breuer and his patient Anna O.

While working with Breuer Freud met with numerous cases of Viennese women with, as Freud realized, “somatic manifestation of some psychological trauma that the patient had suffered and repressed” (Fowler, 2004) and he further realized that many of the hallucinations were not based on reality but the patient’s fantasies that due to the fear of being ostracized were repressed. With the help of Ernst Brucke who had helped Freud in receiving a grant, he pursued his research on the application of hypnosis in cases of acute hysteria along with Charcot and Bernheim.

Later on, it was Breuer who had helped him to start his own neuropsychiatry clinic.

Write 6 pages with APA style on Of Learning to Read and Write by Frederick Douglass.

The reason for writing this story is to create awareness with the audience of the measures adopted by him to read and write and thus he appeals to the logos. He provides examples as to what brought him to the present level and his travails in the process. He writes, “The plan which I adopted…was making friends of all the little white boys whom I met in the street. As many of them as I could, I converted them into teachers”. Without his being aware of the science behind the procedures adopted by him, he was actually following the ‘study-buddy’ approach to learn the language.

In his determination to accomplish his goal, he gives details about those facts and he chooses the best alternative available to him. This passage also mainly appeals to pathos. This is a true story relating to the suffering, loss of dignity and self-respect, loss of identity, and in short the existence of the slave was difficult for the printed page to capture. He makes liberal use of pathos in various parts of the article. He uses this device to derive the sympathy of his audience and to make them reason about his pleas.

Though the reading applies to all audiences, his emphasis seems to be directed at the sufferers, the African-Americans, as they can connect well with his experiences. Douglas writes “The more I read, the more I was led to abhor and detest my enslavers. I could regard them in no other light than a band of successful robbers, who had left their homes, and gone to Africa, and stolen us from our homes. and in a strange land reduced us to slavery. I loathed them as being the meanest as well as the wicked of men.

” This makes it clear that he is trying to educate the audience and the white audience should regret the way they treated the slaves. The emotional world of the audience becomes one with that of Douglass and the suffering slave community. At one stage of the story, he makes mention of his sterling achievement about being able to read finally. He must have felt as if emerging out from a dark cave to a sun-lit area. This was possible only with his newfound ability to read and write. &nbsp. That was a big accomplishment for him and he was proud of his endeavors to get at that turning point in his life.

I need help creating a thesis and an outline on Solving the Garbage Problem. Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide. An abstract is required.

This is not the solution to the problem and we need to do more. In an average year, people are throwing away two billion tons of garbage. This includes everything from human waste to paper and plastics. Although the world is talking about recycling garbage the truth is that many of the things that are recycled end up in a landfill because there are no markets for it to be recycled. This action is causing major problems with the atmosphere and it helps global warming continue. We need to think beyond recycling because so much is being thrown away.

Martin Medina studied trash across the world and found that China was the largest producer of garbage. He suggests that to cope with this growth China would have to build 1,400 landfills and they would have to spend eight times as much on waste management by the year 2020. Although this may seem somewhat outrageous, the United States may not be in any better shape. Today Americans recycle more garbage than they did twenty years ago and about 15 million people depend on recycling to make their living.

This makes no sense to me because recycling is supposed to be something “good” to do and yet it is still not effective.Marks and Howden comment that plastic is a very difficult product to deal with because not enough of it is getting recycled. Usually plastic ends up in the ocean. Once there, it is so durable and it is not biodegradable so it just floats on the water. This to me shows that we are not caring enough about the environment. When garbage gets into the water it can harm fish and wildlife that drink from it which translates into humans receiving the contamination because they eat the animals.

According to Rogers recycling is still a very important aspect of dealing with waste because it is a better option than burning or burying it. She says that recycling saves energy and&nbsp.helps to decrease pollution.
