Many experts predict that genetic testing for disease susceptibility is well on its way to becoming a routine part of clinical care. Yet many of the genetic tests currently being developed are, in the words of the World Health Organization (WHO), of “questionable prognostic value.”

Obesity remains one of the most common chronic diseases in the United States. As a leading cause of United States mortality, morbidity, disability, healthcare utilization and healthcare costs, the high prevalence of obesity continues to strain the United States healthcare system (Obesity Society, 2016).  More than one-third (39.8%) of U.S. adults have obesity (CDC, 2018). The estimated annual medical cost of obesity in the U.S. was $147 billion in 2008 U.S. dollars; the medical costs for people who are obese were $1,429 higher than those of normal weight (CDC, 2018).

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the rate of childhood obesity has tripled in the past 30 years, with an estimated 13.7 million children and adolescents considered obese (CDC, 2018). When seeking insights about a patient’s overall health and nutritional state, body measurements can provide a valuable perspective. This is particularly important with pediatric patients. Measurements such as height and weight can provide clues to potential health problems and help predict how children will respond to illness. Nurses need to be proficient at using assessment tools, such as the Body Mass Index (BMI) and growth charts, in order to assess nutrition-related health risks and pediatric development while being sensitive to other factors that may affect these measures. Body Mass Index is also used as a predictor for measurement of adult weight and health.

Assessments are constantly being conducted on patients, but they may not provide useful information. In order to ensure that health assessments provide relevant data, nurses should familiarize themselves with test-specific factors that may affect the validity, reliability, and value of these tools.

This week, you will explore various assessment tools and diagnostic tests that are used to gather information about patients’ conditions. You will examine the validity and reliability of these tests and tools. You will also examine assessment techniques, health risks and concerns, and recommendations for care related to patient growth, weight, and nutrition.

Learning Objectives

Students will:

  • Evaluate validity and reliability of assessment tools and diagnostic tests
  • Analyze diversity considerations in health assessments
  • Apply concepts, theories, and principles related to examination techniques, functional assessments, and cultural and diversity awareness in health assessment
  • Apply assessment skills to collect patient health histories

Assignment 1: Case Study Assignment: Assessment Tools and Diagnostic Tests in Adults and Children

When seeking to identify a patient’s health condition, advanced practice nurses can use a diverse selection of diagnostic tests and assessment tools; however, different factors affect the validity and reliability of the results produced by these tests or tools. Nurses must be aware of these factors in order to select the most appropriate test or tool and to accurately interpret the results.

Not only do these diagnostic tests affect adults, body measurements can provide a general picture of whether a child is receiving adequate nutrition or is at risk for health issues. These data, however, are just one aspect to be considered. Lifestyle, family history, and culture—among other factors—are also relevant. That said, gathering and communicating this information can be a delicate process.

For this Assignment, you will consider the validity and reliability of different assessment tools and diagnostic tests. You will explore issues such as sensitivity, specificity, and positive and negative predictive values. You will also consider examples of children with various weight issues. You will explore how you could effectively gather information and encourage parents and caregivers to be proactive about their children’s health and weight.

To Prepare
  • Review this week’s Learning Resources and consider factors that impact the validity and reliability of various assessment tools and diagnostic tests. You also will review examples of pediatric patients and their families as it relates to BMI.
  • By Day 1 of this week, you will be assigned to one of the following Assignment options by your Instructor: Adult Assessment Tools or Diagnostic Tests (option 1), or Child Health Case (Option 2). Note: Please see the “Course Announcements” section of the classroom for your assignments from your Instructor.
  • Search the Walden Library and credible sources for resources explaining the tool or test you were assigned. What is its purpose, how is it conducted, and what information does it gather?
  • Also, as you search the Walden library and credible sources, consider what the literature discusses regarding the validity, reliability, sensitivity, specificity, predictive values, ethical dilemmas, and controversies related to the test or tool.
  • If you are assigned Assignment Option 2 (Child), consider what health issues and risks may be relevant to the child in the health example.
    • Based on the risks you identified, consider what further information you would need to gain a full understanding of the child’s health. Think about how you could gather this information in a sensitive fashion.
    • Consider how you could encourage parents or caregivers to be proactive toward the child’s health.

Write 2 pages with APA style on Net Gen by Tapscott and Aslop.

Write 2 pages with APA style on Net Gen by Tapscott and Aslop.

Tone—The tone of this passage is informative. The author wants to inform the reader about both Tapscott and Alsop, and they also want to inform you about the general subject. This general subject is what both authors also focus upon, and makes up the majority of the information: characteristics of Net genres. Diction—The author uses diction to explain their points through the use of simile. “But they are reassured that by eliminating rules, a chain of command, and doling out praise like penny candy” (par.5).4.

By varying sentence structure, the author also varies the tone of the article, alternating long and short sentences: this is apparent in the third paragraph. The impact is that it makes the essay more readable. The use of jargon is seen in a local colloquial language like “a wonder to behold” (par.3). This makes the piece more conversational. Metaphor is seen in the above quotation regarding penny candy. this keeps the text interesting. 5. “But ultimately he figures that its incumbent on employers and managers to bend to the whims of this new crop of employees, not the other way around.”(par.4)I agree with this passage.

I think that the author is saying that companies need to be responsive to the needs of their employees, not the other way around. Companies need to retain talent, and therefore they need to understand their employees to be dynamic. My own position on this issue is that companies should listen to even the lowest level of employees if they have ideas that are going to improve the company. So, I agree with the author that companies should bend to the whims of their employees. I see this is as something that they should do, as well.

From my experience, companies that can keep talent happy can keep talent. For example, my friend was once a cook at a summer school. They had new ideas about management, and the school wound up firing them because they confronted management when they had a faster way to make French fries, which they learned at another organization. But then, the company really lost out, because they lost the employee and the more efficient production method.

Write a paper on my religious institution

I need some assistance with these assignment. my religious institution Thank you in advance for the help!

Initially, it was affiliated to the Boulevard Baptist Church who also funded the first owned premises and building for the church. The church took its present name in 1967. During the first half of the 1970s, the church faced financial problems and there were even discussions of closing the church. But a pastor named John Vaughn agreed to build up membership again. He was able to increase its membership from forty-five to above hundred with a period of three years. He also became the chief pastor of the church.

Soon, it became impossible to accommodate all the members and some of them had to stand outside when attending mass and other functions. In 1978, a tragedy in the Vaughn family in the form of fire turned blessing for the church. The burns received by the couple’s daughter and the tremendous resilience shown by the family soon created a lot of public attention and sympathy. Membership increased to more than nine hundred within two years. In 1994 the congregation bought a two-acre tract of land and built a larger church that is now seen today.

The church now has approximately 1200 members. This paper answers six questions related to different areas of faith, belief, and administration and are answered one by one below. It is interesting to note that the US Constitution has rightly allowed religion to be free in the country. It means that no religious institution needs to be incorporated (or have a constitution) as a legal entity under the statute. Those who exercise the option can do so voluntarily even though this option has a certain legal implication that has both advantages and disadvantages.

This clause was included in the First Amendment of the US Constitution when Thomas Jefferson was president of the country and was based upon a sentence he wrote. The clause is referred to as the wall of separation. The first part of this beautifully worded sentence is given here to show the respect shown by law towards the church, believers, and god. “Believing with you that religion is a matter which lies solely between man & his god, that he owes account to none other for his faith or his worship.

” (Jafferson 2007). The Faith Baptist Church has both articles of incorporation and a church constitution. The church became independent of the Boulevard Baptist Church and was incorporated in 1975.

write an article on the role of ethics from different perspectives Paper must be at least 1500 words.

Hi, I am looking for someone to write an article on the role of ethics from different perspectives Paper must be at least 1500 words. Please, no plagiarized work!

Whereas a small community requires only a little comprehension and agreement on the governing rules and foundations on a directing set of fundamental standards to guide the process. a global community has no prevailing constitution, principles or mores that could serve as a reference. What is deficient is a global organization for governance and an ethical structure as its reference. On a global scale, this link between ethics and governance can be heard effectively from the United Nations. As conveyed in a speech by Mr.

Kofi Annan, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, the results of the current events awaken us that “perhaps more sharply than ever before, of the strains and stresses that accompany globalization and the need for shared global values and effective global institutions to underpin the global market“ (1999). Still, the question remains: How will the pursued values be carried out, and how will its success for international governance be executed (Ethics for the 21st Century, 2001)?

In a quest for a common ground by the global community, there must be room for proactive endeavor and intercultural exchange and discussion on ethics. The necessity for worldwide teamwork and solidarity on the ethical responses to existing problems are reflected in the different ethical schemes carried out by key intercontinental organizations. Nowadays, mankind witnesses unparalleled attempts worldwide encouraging expression on the ethical elements and challenges the contemporary world is confronted with.

This is a call for the international community to recognize the need for responsibility, transition, and cooperation in the common goal of ethical principles and values (Ethics for the 21st Century, 2001). The huge majority of the different efforts deal with specialized areas, such as biology, commerce, development, economics, environment, and technology which concern ethical issues within a specific field. They deal with the profound shared and ethical consequences of transitions and improvements such as in technology or science, obliging intellectuals to seek out fresh resolutions to ethical challenges.

However, such disciplines do not automatically have to cover the field of ethics.

These types are also divided into sub categories. Forests are not only important in providing the lumber, which is a renewable and sustainable material, but they are important in providing an economic growth but providing an agricultural land and reserving water for the agricultural land. Tropical rainforests are best in hold the rainwater but sometimes the plants and trees becomes so congested that one tree or plant becomes make the other’s plats life span short. In this way, the dead plants become more dangerous than carbon dioxide in some cases.

Rainforest has mainly two major types: tropical rainforest and the other is temperate rainforest. Tropical rainforests are mostly located near equator, they receive more solar energy, and thus they have a warm and humid climate. In tropical rainforest, it rains quite well and one can find a tropical rainforest with high level of moisture and rain (Whitmore 32-39). Most of the trees in a tropical rainforest have broad leaves. A temperate rainforest is the one, which is farther from the equator, and it has a cool climate and there are less species of trees in a temperate rainforest.

The trees in a temperate rainforest have needle shaped leaves. The other types of rainforests are montane rainforests, subtropical rainforests, mangrove rainforests, monsoon rainforests, lowland rainforests and flooded rainforests.

In the tropical rainforests, plants and trees grow at a much faster pace that other type of forests (Whitmore 38-40). Therefore, if a rainforest managed sustainably, rainforests have the capability to meet the lumber requirements. Today most of the lumber requirements are provided by plantation forests where hard wood and softwood is grown to make the lumber available for the construction as well as other purposes like furniture making and others.

Wood frame construction is a method of construction that is prior method for home construction from many years.

research paper on the sales breakeven point. Needs to be 4 pages.

Need an research paper on the sales breakeven point. Needs to be 4 pages. Please no plagiarism.

The sales breakeven point and the unit breakeven point are directly related so that an increase in one causes an increase in the other. For the year 2003, the break-even sales was the total selling expense added by the cost of goods sold: 3679+4326=8005

This being the total expense, the firm has to make revenue equal to it to be able to break even. Given sales $8583 and sales tickets as 5341, the cost per ticket is arrived at as follows:

$8583/5341=$1.6

Thus the break-even number of sales tickets is:

8005/1.6=5003 tickets

For the year 2004,

&nbsp.The break-even in sales is: 4132+3758=7890

Cost per unit sale ticket is: 8102/5316=$1.52

Thus the break-even number of sales ticket is: &nbsp.7890/1.52=5191 units of sales tickets

For the year 2006,

Sales break even is: 5570+5547=11117

The cost per unit sales ticket is 10711/6897=1.55

Break-even sales tickets = 11117/1.55= 7172 sales tickets

&nbsp.&nbsp.&nbsp.&nbsp.&nbsp.&nbsp.&nbsp.&nbsp.&nbsp.&nbsp.&nbsp. The break-even sales are dollars has reduced from the year 2003 to 2004. This is attributable to the reduction in the cost of goods sold resulting from the reduction in the goods sold in the year 2004 compared to the year 2003. However, the break-even sales tickets have increased in the year 2004 in comparison with 2003 from the data above. This is attributed to the increase in selling cost while the total sales have decreased thus more units are sold to meet the increasing expense. In the year 2006, the sales break-even has increased due to the increase in total expenses while the break-even tickets have also increased to cover the increasing expense. &nbsp. The margin of safety has also been decreasing over time so that in 2003 it was $578 and it came down in 2004 to $212 then going negative in the year 2006 by $ 406. The reduction in a margin of safety in the first two years is attributable to the general fall in sales. However, in 2006, the sales increased but the expense also increased with a higher proportion than the sales so that the end result is a loss to the firm.

For each enzyme, there is a small range of pH within which it works optimally. Enzymes have&nbsp.active sites in their structures. The active site is the part of the enzyme that has the correct shape and the functional groups required to bind to the substrate (Dunford, 1999). Enzyme activity can be measured in any one of these two ways: observing the rate at which the substrate disappears during a reaction or measuring the rate at which the product is formed. Enzyme assays are used in such measurements.

Two methods have been developed for use in measuring the number of substrates or products in a chemical reaction: continuous and fixed-timed assays. Continuous essays make use of a spectrophotometer to measure the rates at which the substrate disappears and products form in real-time (Leskovac, 2003). To measure the peroxidase activity a change in the amount of product formed will be evaluated over time. For the breakdown of peroxide by peroxidase, the simplest molecule that can be measured is O2 gas, the product of the decomposition of peroxide.

To accomplish this the real volume of O2 gas produced is measured by the use of an indicator. For this experiment, an indicator (pyrogallol) that shows the presence of O2 gas will be used (Dunford, 2010). 2.50 cm3, 0.35 cm3, 0.10 cm3, and 0.35 cm3 of deionized water, buffer solution (at a pH of 6.0), hydrogen peroxide, and pyrogallol respectively were pipetted into two separate cuvettes labeled Cuvette 1 and Cuvette 2. The contents of the cuvettes were then mixed well using a small glass rod. The spectrophotometer was set to 420 nm after which Cuvette 1 was placed into it. 0.1 ml of the buffer solution was added to the cuvette and then stirred using a small glass rod.

The readings of the spectrophotometer were recorded every 10 seconds for 5 minutes. Cuvette 2 (blank) was placed into the spectrophotometer. 0.1 ml of&nbsp.the enzyme was added to it and stirred using a small glass rod. The readings of the spectrophotometer were recorded every 10 seconds for 5 minutes.&nbsp.

Provide a 5 pages analysis while answering the following question: Psychological Criticism of Person. Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide. An abstract is required.

Based on this critic some concept develops forming its branches. They include trauma, cognitive and psychoanalytic criticism. Therefore, in integrating literary works and psychological sphere, one is able to create a powerful aspect into literary criticism, which is scientific in nature. In relation to the above, the base of this essay is to try to dissect two authors’ writings from a psychological perspective. For instance, Nathaniel’s ‘young good brown’ and Edgar’s ‘the tell-tale heart’ and ‘the cast of amontillado’.

In relation to ‘Young Good Brown’ by Nathaniel, it clearly shows how brown’s actions had many motivating factors. Based on his psychology, brown see himself creating more haste on his current evil purpose. His conscious mind affects him compelling him to attend the witch- communion in the forest. He tends to care less on effects that will arise from this communion. In addition, his instincts greatly enhance his actions. This is because he feels he is going to achieve something from the communion.

Finally yet importantly, based on motivating factors, he had faith and this kept him going even if the forest was that scary with dark and dreary paths.Brown embarks on a scary and terrifying journey. The motive of this journey is to meet the witches and demons in the communion. Although his family lineage was Christians, brown decides to deviate from that and follow the evil way. In relation, this quest also involved the welcoming of a certain woman to the evil service during the communion. In addition, brown engage in the journey to go revive himself with the evil.

On his way, he meets different people who also have the same interest as him. For instance, fifteen minutes after his departure, he comes across a man who scares him at first. Based on the psychological analysis, although he gets scared, his goal does not change. This implies that his mind is not affected.

Create a 5- to 6-slide PowerPoint presentation that can be used in a staff development meeting on presenting different approaches for implementing the stepwise approach for asthma treatment. Be sure to address the following: Describe long-term control and quick relief treatment options for the asthma patient from your practice as well as the impact these drugs might have on your patient.

Assignment: Asthma and Stepwise Management

Asthma is a respiratory disorder that affects children and adults. Advanced practice nurses often provide treatment to patients with these disorders. Sometimes patients require immediate treatment, making it essential that you recognize and distinguish minor asthma symptoms from serious, life-threatening ones. Since symptoms and attacks are often induced by a trigger, advanced practice nurses must also help patients identify their triggers and recommend appropriate management options. Like many other disorders, there are various approaches to treating and managing care for asthmatic patients depending on individual patient factors.
