Global Financial Management ROE can be defined as the amount of net income that is returned as a percentage of shareholders equity. ROE has several advantages including evaluation of managers.ROE can be used to measure the managers’ performance. If the return on equity is high, that means that the managers are utilizing the investments well and creating profit. ROE has the advantage of flexibility. When selecting projects to invest in overseas, it enables one to either use the simple way of calculating and measuring income or use a more complex way with so much details.

Return on Equity can of benefit when used in trend analysis. This means that using ROE can enable a company to calculate its return on equity over a number of years. However, ROE has some disadvantages when selecting projects to invest in overseas. It only shows the company’s equity investment performance. Therefore, a company might have leveraged its investment in a huge amount of debt, but improving its ROE as long as the debt is creating income. Another disadvantage of ROE is the fact that it only measures the net income. Net income includes revenue without the expenses, which means that ROE is affected and lowered if a company has large amounts of capital assets.

Internal Rate on Return can be defined as the return rate used to measure the amount of profit generated by investment in capital budgeting. It’s used to indicate the efficiency and quality of an investment. IRR is also used to measure whether projects and investments are appealing. Its advantages when selecting projects to invest in overseas include. time value whereby the cash flow is weighed equally using the time value of money. This is because the future cash flow timing is put into consideration. Another advantage is the way IRR makes it simple to measure the value of several projects together that have been put into consideration.

Internal Rate on Return has a number of disadvantages. This method does not consider future costs as it only calculates the cash flow created by a project hence leaving out the capability of the project creating cash flow in future. Another disadvantage is the fact that IRR does not consider the size of the project. It only measures cash flow in comparison to the amount of capital creating that cash flow. People employed are close to 50 performing various tasks and responsibilities taking the positions of servers, bartenders, cleaners, cashiers and cooks.

I am one of the servers who must tend to an average of 100 customers per day. We report to the server supervisor which in turn report to the bar manager. This is roughly the same setup with regards to the bartenders only that for those in the kitchen, where there are no complex tasks, the helpers, cleaners and cooks report directly to the kitchen manager. All employees are required to fill-up a work ticket at the end of each working day for the managers to evaluate. That is because employees are given the leeway to make decisions on their own as they perform their responsibilities. The managers then report to the owners twice a month, with recommendations and other inputs culled from the workers about the needs and affairs of the bar that needs to be addressed.

Considering the number of employees and the physical space of the bar, there is an ample opportunity for socialization process to take place. I’d like to refer to how Novak defined a strong organizational culture to describe the socialization process at LEVEL. According to Novak, there are three aspects that define the strength of an organization: choice phase, introduction stage and encounter phase.1

Even non-philosophers tend to think of truth as a set of objective facts existing outside of the mind. But what this means is actually the subject of a very extensive debate. A part of this debate is whether there are different kinds of truth that reflect different areas of philosophy: aesthetics, ethics, and mathematics. The different kinds of truths for these philosophical fields may occur because these different areas say fundamentally different things. It seems that truth is nothing more than something’s consistency with the system in which it is a part. the sentences “Murder is bad” and “This formula is right” are equally true in the case that the action of murder is inconsistent with a moral system or that a formula contradicts the rules of mathematics.

With this definition of truth, that truth of anything is a matter of its coherence to the system, the truth of any sentence must be a matter of the sentence’s consistency to an entire moral, aesthetic, or mathematical system. This means we must see mathematics as a system in which there are no questions that cannot be answered. In this system, a mathematical theory can be true or false depending on whether its premises or its conclusion, jive with the established truths already in the system. In the mathematical system, since it is a complete system, one can make true or false statements. Since mathematics makes up a complete system, one should anticipate any true sentence or statement about mathematics to fit somewhere in the complete system and not deny other aspects of the complete system.

If truth is a sentence’s consistency with other parts of a system, one can define “consistency” to be simply the harmony between the different parts in the system. As a system of numbers, formulas, and equations, mathematics should be completely internally consistent so that it can contain truths at all. If the entire system of mathematics contained unresolved contradictions, the concept of it being a “complete” system would be lost. To illustrate, the quadratic equation in mathematics is a better expression of parabolas in graphs than, say, a Gaussian function. Substituting the quadratic equation with a Gaussian function would fundamentally change the rules of mathematic, and all of the mathematics would need either to be removed or modified to reflect the change.
