ANSWER THE ABOVE QUESTION THEN REPLY TO MY CLASSMATE’S RESPONSE TO THE ABOVE QUESTION AND EXPLAIN WHY YOU AGREE? (A MINIMUM OF 125 WORDS EACH)

CLASSMATE’S POST

One aspect of the criminal justice system that resonated with me is corrections.  The system was designed to simply take those that commit crimes and incarcerate them, so they are unable to continue to commit further crimes.  The victims of certain crimes are given a sense of justice knowing that their offender is not only imprisoned but that a form of punishment was imposed.  Additionally, the system is intended to provide some sort of rehabilitation while the person is imprisoned so that once released the chances of committed such acts again are avoided.  The deficiency is that this is much more complicated than the evolution of a crime committed, sentenced for such crime, serve punishment, and release back to society as a law-abiding citizen (not including murder, rape, crimes against children, etc.).  With increased populations across the globe crime rates have actually gone down, however, incarceration has gone up.  In the US as an example crime rates have gone down consistently since 1990, but the prison population remains huge and continues to grow, as we have also seen evidence for a global crime drop despite overall global imprisonment rising (Pakes, 2019).  Another deficiency with overpopulated prisons it significantly reduces the amount of rehabilitation an inmate may receive.  My profession over the years has exposed me to many prison systems throughout this country and a constant trend is offenders serve time and shortly after release are back serving for similar offenses. In my opinion the problem is with the policing and sentencing.  There needs to be changes in legislation on what crimes warrant incarceration.  The court systems are inundated with minor crimes or infractions that bog the system; therefore, it is easier to plea bargain to include incarcerate.  Sentence reform could possibly slow the rate of incarceration.

The shift has been a slow burn over the years whereas legislation, policing, and the overall public opinion has changed.  The expansion of prisons throughout this country creates a financial need to ensure these prisons are filled with inmates, correctional officers, administrative staff, and many more to keep the daily operations functioning.  I grew up in a small area in upstate New York where over the last two decades there have been three maximum prisons build which not only holds at any time 15K prisoners but employees over 1800 correctional officers (many of my family and friends).  My point being there are incentives to keep this criminal justice system operational.

For this assignment, you’ll work to outline your potential target audiences, determine what those audiences desire, and then decide how you’ll match your product with your target audiences. Using either a paragraph, outline, or table format, do the following:  List Current Audiences. List various audiences (at least 8) to whom you currently market yourself on a daily, weekly, or other periodic basis.

Product/Audience Match Strategy
Part of Final Marketing Yourself Plan – Due at End of Term

As explained in the PDF reading “Matching the Product with the Audience When Marketing Yourself,” it’s critical to understand your product (i.e., your skills, attributes, personality, core values, etc.) and to determine and understand your target audiences (i.e., potential employers, colleagues, customers, career gatekeepers, etc.).

For this assignment, you’ll work to outline your potential target audiences, determine what those audiences desire, and then decide how you’ll match your product with your target audiences. Using either a paragraph, outline, or table format, do the following:

  1. List Current Audiences. List various audiences (at least 8) to whom you currently market yourself on a daily, weekly, or other periodic basis. These might include potential employers, current employers, friends, family, teachers, various societal segments, social groups, customers, colleagues, employees, store personnel, vendors/suppliers, social media audiences, etc. Don’t forget that these audiences might be face-to-face, online, over the phone, etc. For each audience, be extremely specific as to who this audience is. Don’t just say “store employees” when you can say “the early morning employees at the Starbucks that I go to every weekday.” Don’t just say “my co- workers” when you can say “my co-workers Cristina, Derek, and Victoria who work in the cubicles next to mine.”
  2. Importance of Current Audiences. For each of the 8+ current audiences, provide some insights as to why each particular audience might be important to you in your marketing yourself efforts. How can impressing each audience help you?
  3. What Current Audiences Want From You. Finally, for each of the 8+ current audiences you listed, write down at least three characteristics (features, attributes, skills, traits, values, etc.) that they would desire in a person such as you. Although there may be some similar traits or characteristics across the audiences you listed, each audience likely will desire some unique characteristics as well.
  4. List Prospective Audiences. Your next step is to add at least three new “prospective” target audiences to whom you would like to market yourself in the near or distant future. Again, they can be potential employers in a particular industry, friends, social groups, customers, fans, readers, etc. While it’s good to be specific as to the industry, type of people, etc., you don’t have to be as specific as you were in Step 1 because you may not know the details of these audiences yet.
  5. Importance of Prospective Audiences. As you did in Step 2 with your “current” audiences, for each of the 3+ “prospective” audiences, provide some insights as to why each particular audience might be important to you in your future marketing yourself efforts. How can impressing each audience help you?
  6. What Prospective Audiences Want From You. For each of the 3+ “prospective” target audiences, write down at least three characteristics (features, attributes, skills, traits, values, etc.) that they would desire in a person such as you. Because you may not really know these audiences very well, you may end up estimating this section more than the other ones. Nevertheless, consider what characteristics would be important to each audience.

  1. Product/Audience Match. Now consider how well you’re matching your Product You with the desired attributes of the (at least 8) current audiences and the (at least 3) prospective audiences that you listed. Discuss the matches as well as the discrepancies (the instances in which you don’t match).
  2. Changing Product You. Discuss what you can do to have a better match between your various target audiences and the product (set of attributes, traits, etc.) that you’re offering. How can you change your Product You as well as your Personal/Professional Brand to better market yourself to these various audiences? This section consists of a set of self-improvement recommendations.

  4. Synthesis and Summary: Discuss what you learned from this exercise. What did you learn about target marketing? What did you learn about your own audiences? What did you learn about yourself? Synthesize your learning from the various parts of the assignment and create a summary that you can review in the future.

Chapter 4I went to 3 different gym locations in Los Angeles and asked 100 men and 100 women these 3 questions. “Do you ever feel uncomfortable working out at the gym? How often do you come to the gym? Would you prefer to workout at a gender segregated gym? 12% of men and 67% of women said that they have felt uncomfortable working out at the gym? 32% of men said they come to the gym 3 times a week, and 63% of women said they come to the gym once a week. 2% of men and 29% of women said that they would prefer to workout at a gender segregated gym. This shows a trend that tells me a few things. One thing I noticed is that the high percent of women feeling uncomfortable at the gym may be directly correlated to the lackof frequency throughout the week at the gym for women. Only 15% of women said that they go to the gym more than twice a week. Also, thelow percentage of both men and women that would prefer gender segregated gyms has a particular connotation to it as well. The fact that almost all the people questioned have never experienced a gender segregated gym and also the fact that the idea of seeing great bodies of the opposite sex is part of motivation to come to the gym in general for both men and women. Most women said they feel that the attention they get from the men at the gym seems aggressive, but they still appreciate some attention, however. Men also enjoy having the women to motivate them to showcase their strength atthe gym but also a substantial motivator as well. This tell me that the gym culture with both me and women sharing thatspace with boosted testosterone and skintight clothing teasing the mind of the lurkers, that sexual harassment is normal in this environment. Out of the 100 women questioned 73% of them have said that they have been harassed or even stalked by someone at the gym. This tells me that there needs to be more options for these women to go workout and not have to just hope they don’t get pressured by a overly aggressive creep at the gym. There’s a need fora chain of commercial women only gyms that women can feel comfortable in. Not only a safe haven away from potential harassmentfrom these overly aggressive men but also a place where the shy can come improve their body and not feel embarrassed because men are around.  Also a place they don’t have to feel intimidated by these

stereotypes about how lifting weights will make you look like a man, but they will see other women that are beautiful and strong and realizethat there are tons of benefits in weightlifting and it will not make you look like a man. Learn tips from female fitness professionals and learnabout how fitness can help them with their pains throughout their menstrual cycle as well s stress relief. These are just some examples of things that women will be more open to learning without the intimidations of men being around preventing that.
