When I witnessed the American Red Cross activities as a volunteer, my aim in mind was to make a difference by helping fellow Americans. When I completed the ten-hour volunteer work, little, did I know that it was just a glimpse of a wonderful life of volunteerism? I wanted to transform the ten hours into days, or months, or years. My life was transformed by the short time I experienced in the Red Cross.

The first day in my new “job” began with a short orientation. First, I reported to the local office and asked for the person in charge of volunteers. I introduced myself to the designated volunteer supervisor, who was too accommodating to provide me with valuable information about volunteerism in the Red Cross. Ms. Claire, the supervisor, asked me to fill up a volunteer form. After that, she briefed me about the jobs of a volunteer.

The orientation took place at around nine o’clock in the morning on that peaceful and clear Monday. My request for ten volunteer hours was a short period, but she said that my time could be distributed into a week where I would be able to acquire knowledge and information about volunteerism and the various activities in the organization. We were ten new volunteers, whom Ms. Claire welcomed individually with a hug. She said that we would be given orientation and ‘tour’ and other special training for volunteers.

My first day of the week provided me a glimpse of what we would do as volunteers and what the Red Cross has done as an organization. My job was mostly on knowing what the Red Cross has done and can do in times of calamities and disasters. We could not do much as volunteers due to the short time allotted for us, but we could assist in the work being done in the office and orient ourselves in the staff’s various training.

On my second day, I was given a task that I believed was very fruitful in that short time of volunteer work. Ms. Claire asked me if I would like to assist with the babysitting activity, one of the training programs provided by the American Red Cross. My job was to assist the instructor in the training program, Ms. Smith, a retired nurse who has dedicated her life to volunteer work. Ms. Smith gave me a short orientation about babysitting. The training was a fruitful experience. I was allotted one-and-half hours for the training, but I extended it for another half an hour because I felt that the time was not enough. Babysitting is a very honorable and humane job. It trains us to become parents.

Throughout my life, I continue to encounter numerous experiences, which significantly affect my perception and understanding of the occurrences in life. Through these experiences, I have learned numerous things that have enriched my life immensely. Though some occurred subconsciously, others were instigated discussions held between myself and friends.

While discussing various lifetime experiences with my friends, something I had always ignored occurred. My friend informed me of the inherent discrepancies present between environments where people grow up. The friend informed me of how he grew in a Muslim dominated society, and the difficult experiences he underwent as a Christian. With a majority of the people being Muslims, the childhood friends failed to understand the faith professed by my friend. The discrepancies in the fundamental teachings of the faiths caused numerous difficulties between the children professing different faiths. The children viewed each other as enemies creating immense tension and difficulty in creating friendships among children professing different faiths. After growing up, my friend’s understanding of the Islamic faith enabled him to appreciate individuals professing the faith.

My friend explained the various elements of the Islamic faith which caused the perception change. The discovery that a majority of the doctrines contained in the religions remain common across the religions was surprising. Through the explanation offered, I also gained an immense understanding of the Islamic religion. Although numerous accusations continue regarding the association of the Islamic faith with terrorism, stereotyping could be explained as the causing element for these accusations. The fact that there are quite many terrorists associated with the Islamic faith should not be a benchmark for all Muslims, terrorists. Stereotypical thinking with a limited understanding of Islamic faith leads to fallacious conclusions regarding religion.

As a child, I had also held this populist belief as true. My understanding of the Islamic religious doctrines displayed the religion as modeling terrorist.

On the one hand, a university represented a traditional craft-type corporation (Universitas), which brought together people of a specific occupation type.&nbsp.At the same time, the internal organization of universities hold quite an unusual, for that sort of corporation, position – it was given the certain features of republicanism: all full-fledged “citizens” had the right to elect and be elected to various university positions.

According to some researchers, the earliest university in Medieval Europe was the one in Salerno.&nbsp.It was developing based on the oldest medical school of Salerno, the first mention of which dates back to 197 A.D. The Hippocratic community (Civitas Hippocratica), which existed there, preserved and developed the best of the ancient medical heritage.&nbsp.Salerno medical school, as one of the largest educational centers, was known until 1812.&nbsp.However, it did not become a university.&nbsp.Mainly, because the school did not teach on the same high level (as medicine) all the remaining subjects.&nbsp.

The named above reason accounts for the fact that it’s considered that the most ancient European universities are the ones in Bologna, which was founded at the end of the 11th century, and Paris, the 12th century.&nbsp.The named universities, although formed almost simultaneously, differed in their internal structure and epitomized the two main types of universities in Medieval Europe.&nbsp.The first (Bologna) university developed as the major center for the study of Roman law in Western Europe.&nbsp.According to contemporaries,&nbsp.in the&nbsp.early 13th century, more than&nbsp.10&nbsp.thousand people&nbsp.from all over&nbsp.Europe studied in&nbsp.Bologna.&nbsp.

The famous Bolognese&nbsp.professors&nbsp.had so many&nbsp.listeners&nbsp.that had&nbsp.to lecture&nbsp.outside, in the streets.&nbsp.Almost&nbsp.all the languages&nbsp.​​of Europe were&nbsp.represented there.&nbsp.The university became&nbsp.known as a global one.&nbsp.It was Bologna, where&nbsp.for the first time, appeared the&nbsp.so-called fraternities.&nbsp.It grew up based on urban secular schools (School of Glossators) and was the organization of students.&nbsp.This means that the student guilds arrogated to themselves the right to manage the entire process of university life.

&nbsp.The rage of water in the climate through rain, hurricanes, and tsunamis provides context for its management. Even sitting perfectly still in the clutches of water through sitting on a boat is not enough to give any sense that water is not in control. Water controls the world, whether or not the established authorities intend to create a more stable environment. Water has a power that can be harnessed in part but never fully appreciated for its destruction or the immensity of its quantity. &nbsp.

He suggests that water always is a substance of duality and that one of the most potent dualities that it has is in its purity and cleansing properties. Cleansing is of prime importance to Illich as he discusses how water can “detach what sticks to people” (27). It can be said that water is a lubricant that can divide as much as it can bring together, the substance coming between the body and impurities to wash them away, as much as it can be the great equalizer in which what flows past and through one body is destined to continue to flow through all bodies. Patton says of purity that “Religious notions of purity and pollution, particularly for oceangoing or shoreline peoples, chronically regard the sea as the most powerful vehicle for catharsis” (140). The idea of water is associated with washing away troubles and providing a clean surface to make new or continue.

&nbsp.&nbsp.&nbsp.&nbsp.&nbsp.&nbsp.&nbsp.&nbsp.&nbsp.&nbsp.&nbsp. In both the religious and the context of the commons, water represents cleanliness. As baptism takes place in many churches, the recipient is sometimes sprinkled, sometimes dunked into the water to enjoy water’s purification ritual. In baptism, the individual washes away the past to reveal a new future dedicated to faith. From a more practical standpoint, water represents a city that does not stagnate in its decay. The emergence of city plans with water systems is one of the more essential elements of creating a well-organized city. Water is placed with dreams for Illich, who writes that they “make(s) the city work” (3). Therefore, it can be seen that water can be used through both the ritualization of its use and through commonality that is sustained in the development of a clean and well-run city. Cleansing is both a religious ritual and practical application of the idea of the use of water.

Besides, all these active and highly efficient sensory system, modern aircraft are equipped with state-of-the-art, machine vision and artificial intelligence-based versatile and robust systems. All the sensors and actuators used in the navigation panel of the pilot cabin work efficiently due to the CAT (computerized adaptive testing) system. This system is capable of generating a more robust and optimal solution to a problem faced by the navigation system. This system makes the airplanes more autonomous and is capable of communicating and helping pilots in unexpected situations. CAT systems are not only capable of providing output but are also provided with built in intelligence to study all the active parameters and provide an intelligent response to the pilot.

Above is the view of a typical electronic flight instrument system (EFIS) used in modern aircraft (Skybrary, 2013). In older aircraft, these EFIS were based on CRTs but with the advent of advances in electronics and CAT systems, more sophisticated EFIS was on demand. Therefore, the above shown EFIS is primarily based on liquid crystal display technology which makes the instrument display system a very colorful panel.

For the safe operational landing of commercial aircraft, an approaching aircraft gets guidance by the instrument of landing. This operation relates to the modulation of depth comparisons. Many recent aircraft use Autopilot systems to locate signals from these beams. The instrument of landing in most airports consists of a Glideslope and localizer. A localizer measures the difference in depth of modulation. Measurement of this depth relates to diverse pairs of directional antennas. A localizer refers to an array of antennas located beyond the point of departure of the airport. It provides lateral guidance to aircraft. Typically the system consists of two signals transmitted on one instrument landing system.&nbsp. One of the signal modulations is at 150Hz and 40Hz.
