In laputan (December, 2003) it is stated that many have purported to attributions and that it goes as far back as Mark Twain.

Good judgment comes from experience. When having to make choices and finally having to decide, rather than tossing the coin, brainstorming is a good way of being able to make these decisions.

It would be superfluous to mention that brainstorming has been used by experts in different fields, such as: the military, education, business, and government, to plan, design, develop, implement, and evaluate projects. Having a variety of experiences gives the individual the tools to create a balance and be able to make better choices.

In statistics, for instance, if you take an exam and you fail it, statistically speaking the probabilities of passing the exam the second time around are higher. The more you take the exam the better scores you should obtain. This is a comparison made to, good judgment comes from experience. The more experience you have in a given situation the better you are able to make decisions. The difference between making judgments based on experiences and taking an exam over and over again is that, the exam is the same one and the situation in life may be similar but not the same.

You have different players involved, other circumstances, other decisions to take in the process of making them, and other people may be affected by the decision(s) you make. This is a big responsibility. It is not only you the one that is involved but there are repercussions on other peoples´ lives by a decision you have made or vice versa.

And, often experience comes from bad judgment. This is the other side of the coin.

This refers to making bad judgments and obtaining experiences. A marriage, for instance, you fall in love, do all the things psychologists tell you to do: communicate what you will put into the relationship and what is expected of the other person, go grocery shopping, go to religious ceremonies, cook together, wait for a year to get married and other identified tasks. After following all of the suggestions, a year later you are on the divorce statistics.

You thought you had gone through all the right steps in choosing a partner for life, but, you may a bad judgment. The marriage did not work out.

There is your experience that resulted from a bad judgment. There are no guarantees in life. The only thing that is sure is that you are going to die, although you do not know when.

There are no formulas for choosing a partner and there are no formulas in raising children. In the past there were no schools to become a parent and how to raise your children. It was a trial and error procedure. Parents were the models liked it or not. Today, there is an increase of interest by people wanting to know how to raise their children, wanting to go to seminars where they teach strategies on raising children, and in a few decades it will be known if it was worth while or not. This is the first generation to start these types of strategies.

Several questions may be posed for the following example. Are there going to be any changes in a few decades? Or is the following modeling going to continue no matter how much training is offered? Is it genetic? Is it cognition? This is the example. The father is an alcoholic and beats the wife the daughter becomes a mother, marries an alcoholic and is beaten by her husband. The son marries and he is an alcoholic and beats up his wife. And this pattern continues through generations. Those were the models and those were the outcomes.

Nevertheless, you received your experiences. Did you learn from your ancestors experiences? Did you learn from what psychologists explain concerning this behavior?

Redelmeier et al (6 Fevr, 2001), posit that:

“Cognitive psychology is the basic science that explores how people reason,

formulate judgements and make decisions. The recurrent observation is that

people make mistakes when they encounter complex problems. The distinctive

finding is that everyday situations are often sufficiently complex to elicit mistakes. The fundamental assumption is that these mistakes are not random. Research suggests that human reasoning is susceptible to predictable errors. that is, some mistakes are made repeatedly by most people. Hence, cognitive psychology is a scientific discipline that might inform clinical judgement.

As physicians, they are able to see the whole spectrum: physical, biological, and cognitive.

There are processes in which the human being has to go through. Taking into consideration the previous statements made by these physicians it is inferred that if good choices are made because of a bad experience it is a good rationale. It may also be inferred that because you make bad judgments you obtain experiences.

Although it may be possible that after going through all the necessary steps you may still make bad judgments, the probabilities of decrease are highly plausible. Using a systematic approach in making decisions based on experiences may help you decrease the bad judgments.

Live and learn, Good judgment comes from bad experience, and often experience comes from bad judgment. Do not, however, let this deter you from making decisions. People may be on different paths, different cycles in life, but it is important to make a decision and these could be I will or I will not. Action is important!

In the recent past, the automotive industry has experienced an increase in competition. In order to provide customers with quality products and services, manufacturing companies have been forced to adopt effective models. For instance, companies are being forced to re-design their product development process to identify and control the noise factor limits, and then come up with appropriate countermeasures. By distancing products from failure modes, companies can then be able to improve reliability. The importance of using failure mode avoidance (FMA) methodologies is supported by many researchers. This paper examines the application of this concept within the automotive and manufacturing industries.

In the modern economy, it has become imperative to produce quality products that are appealing to customers. With this in mind, car manufacturers constantly improve their production processes and their designs. The concept is very suitable in the face of growing recall cases, and a perfect example can be borrowed from the Toyota Company. In 2013, the company recalled 1.3 million vehicles due to airbag defects, and this exercise is expected to cost the company over $55 billion. In 2010, the company suffered a similar problem occasioned by the pedal entrapment malfunction. Since then, the company has conducted other recalls, and Ahsen, (2008) suggests that such incidences could have been avoided by implementing the Failure Mode and Effects Analysis programs. The FMA approach helps the manufacturers to identify high-risk characteristics and develop appropriate measures to avoid potential failures. The current rules and regulations require the automotive industry to use multidisciplinary teams to identify failures and defects. The technical team is required to identify the following three types of failure modes: materials, processes, and costs. The concept of failure mode avoidance was first used by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration(NASA) group in the 1960sand was later adopted by the Ford Motor Company in the 1980s. Since then, the concept has been extended to the healthcare industry. In this sector, the concept is being employed to reduce the number of medication errors, and evaluate the effects of the failure modes. The next sections examine the application of the concept in the automotive industry.

Notably, it has been a beneficiary of China’s economic boom. The close bilateral relationship between China and Australia poses both an opportunity and a challenge for Australia. It is an opportunity because Australia’s economic prosperity is increasingly getting tied to China. It is feared that the interstate war that started in 1991 is likely to come again (Baylis & Steve, 2008). Australia has a long history of fear of external aggression by other powerful Asian giants. &nbsp.&nbsp.China’s rise, which is continuing unabated, especially regarding its booming economic growth that is demeaning America’s influence in East Asia, poses a significant challenge to Australian identity (Edwards, 2005). The speedy rise of China, coupled with the relative decline of US control in the Asia-pacific, poses a challenge to Australians at all societal levels, thereby making them bear a painful experience of revising and even rethinking some of the self-beliefs and assumptions are taken for granted – that their country will remain peaceful in the foreseeable future and will continue enjoying the fruits of a strategic alliance with the US. &nbsp. Australia today appreciates itself and it place in the world, having turned upside down following the ongoing debate by its far-sighted and most prominent policymakers who are otherwise overturning political taboos by revealing much about the future of Asia, and that of Australia, in particular, following the sudden rise of China.

In his speech, Benjamin Netanyahu depicted Iran as a threat to the whole world. He warned that a deal being discussed Iran’s nuclear program was a bad one. it could only help Tehran move forward in acquiring nuclear weapons rather than blocking it. The speech came just a fortnight before a closely contested election in Israel. Mr. Netanyahu stressed that he was not attempting to meddle in the internal politics of the United States. Earlier before the speech, the White House had faulted his plan to talk to the Congress at the Republican’s invitation. It said the Israeli leader had not consulted the White House, and thus was attempting to increase the U.S. opposition to any deal with Iran. After the speech, the United States President Barrack Obama said he had not perceived anything new in the speech transcript. He told reporters that Netanyahu did not provide any viable alternatives to trying to bar Iran from having a nuclear weapon. Several news outlets, both mainstream and smaller outlets, covered the political event. They brought out elements of biases, favoritism and critical languages, the significance of certain events, and selectivity of information in contemporary media reporting.

CNN covered the political event in over a thousand articles on the period from 3rd to 12 March. The materials are available in the international edition of the news section of the website. The articles are long enough and discuss as many details as possible on the topic. However, there is some bias in the selectivity of the information in the reports. For instance, information portrays that Netanyahu is trying to appeal to the American public to force its government to drop the deal. The articles touch nearly every element of the event. They discuss various components such as Obama’s criticisms, those who invited the Israeli leader, the speech’s purpose, and the speech attendees. They also capture minute details such as claiming that 58 key senators would not attend the speech and the worsening of the not-so-good relationship between the two leaders: Obama and Netanyahu (CNN). The CNN news outlet uses critical language to analyze the gravity of the situation, based on the players’ behaviors and talks. It does not appear to favor any side in its reporting. However, the news outlet does not reveal anything about the public and Middle East nations’ reactions

The fact that a fetus is a living human cell may make such a human being. However, the stages of development of a fetus influence the definition of a fetus in proving whether such are humans or not. The moral aspect of the definition is equally important and Warren uses such to prove that abortion is morally acceptable. Warren argues that a fetus lacks rationality and self-consciousness two vital features that influence the definition of morality. With such a conclusion, she thus argues that abortion is morally acceptable since a fetus does not qualify as a human being.

Warren provides an in-depth analysis of the factors of the case key among which is personhood and the right to life. She explains that the factors that constitute personhood include the ability to reason, consciousness, ability to communicate and self-concepts among others. Such are basic features that are indeed provable in every person. The author of the article uses the above factors to prove that a fetus is not a person. This makes a fetus right to life equally contentious.

She furthers her argument by beginning the discussion on the stages of a fetus and its right to life. A fetus begins developing immediately a sperm fertilizes an ovum. She argues that the early stages of pregnancy, the fetus is like a clot of blood and lacks any feature that would make it resemble a human. She sets out to explain the various developmental stages of a fetus since a number of people have often argued that at advanced stages a fetus is grown a feature that makes an abortion a murder. She contends with such arguments explaining that maybe the government should set a limit beyond which abortion is illegal. Despite such, the author maintains that the morals in the society permit abortion given the fact that a fetus is not a human being and that a fetus lacks the moral sense.
