The songs must be chosen from the provided lists  – one from list one and one from list 2 -and the paper should be no shorter than 3 pages (excluding bibliography). A bibliography must be included with proper citations for the songs themselves and at least 2 proper references.

One of the references should be “Stinging Like Tabasco” by Imani Perry

Be sure to listen to all of the songs and choose ones that you feel that you may have a lot to say about, and remember, you’re comparing the songs not how you feel about the songs.

Rubrik

Starting Points

You do what’s asked –2 songs from the lists, 3 pages long, bibliography, both compare and contrast the songs, offer equal opinion and insight into both songs, offer proper support for info=15 pts before deductions.

Miss major elements –only one song, songs are from the same list or are not on the list, no bibliography, 1.5 pages or less. –7.5 points before deductions.

Deductions at the discretion of the TA, but examples include unsupported/wrong information, incorrect citations, obviously poor effort, didn’t compare songs but wrote about how one feels about the songs, skate.

PAPER EXPECTATIONS

  • Follow the instructions.
  • Make your ideas concise. Use as few words as you can to make your statements. This will allow you more room to develop your great ideas!
  • Avoid repetition and redundancy of both ideas and words. This is the issue that I usually subtract the most points for, so take care.
    • For example, when you edit your papers, make sure that you don’t say “Cool Herc is widely accepted as the originator of hip hop”, and then two sentences later, “As Cool Herc is the originator of hip hop…”. See how these two are the same idea? If the reader already has the information, repeating it just takes up space. Another thing to avoid is using the same word multiple times in quick succession. For example: “I found it exciting to listen to the this music. Eri B. has an exciting tone to his voice. When I hear how he flows when he strings words together, I feel excited.” See how ‘excitement’ occurs three times in three sentences? Here’s another more subtle example: “He used the turntable as a way to switch songs seamlessly, using the scratch method to cover up the different beats that were used in each song.” In this example, the word ‘use’ occurs three times in the same sentence! Because it’s a less emotional word, it might be harder to catch, but it’s just as problematic.
  • I like to see ‘I’ statements. I find that turning the focus on yourself (especially when we are dealing with sensitive issues and incorporating personal experience, as I encourage) is a great way to avoid generalizing groups and ideas. If your statement is clearly from your perspective, then I as a reader can empathize with your position. If you use lots of ‘we as a generalized group of people act and feel this specific way’, it makes me wonder what research you’ve done, what data points you have, and how many people you have interviewed in order to have that knowledge.
  • Going off of the previous expectation: BE SPECIFIC! If you do make a generalized statement about a situation, back it up with details. Show the research. Reference or quote the authors who initially made the observations and put their work into context. If you tell me that Cool Herc is largely agreed to be the originator of hip hop, tell me why and give examples.
    • For example, something with detail and context would be: “Although Jamaican soundsystem culture is at the roots of hip hop, Cool Herc was the first to create tracks sourced from James Brown, using the funkier, harder beats that we’ve come to associate with hip hop today.” See how this gives specific details and context on either end of the statement that Cool Herc was the first person to make hip hop?
  • Make sure you include proper internal references, and construct your bibliography following MLA format. In your paper, I like to see at least (Author, Date of Publication). For example: “Cool Herc is widely agreed to be the originator of hip hop(Babin 2020).” This tells me you got the information from the course modules recorded by Tommy Babin this year. You can also put a page number if you like, it’s not required by me, but do be consistent with whatever version you choose.
  • Plagiarism – as you saw in the syllabus, we take plagiarism seriously. The turnitin grading tool is very good at spotting this. I have unfortunately had to deal with plagiarism issues in this class before. It’s never fun for anyone. I will catch you. It goes on your record forever. Don’t do it.

Write a paper on food and its nature

I need some assistance with these assignment. food and its nature Thank you in advance for the help! Nutritionists and scientists have categorized various groups of foods, and even how they can be combined to maximize its effects on the body. To ensure a healthy and productive population, all the shareholders in the food industry, most especially farmers and producers and vendors offer healthy food products. Vendors should not only consider the prices and ingredients of the products they sell to consumers, but they should reflect on everything that entails the product.

Being a daily consumer of various products, I have taken a big interest in scrutinizing my vendors before purchasing. Food products have taken much of my attention considering that, my health is the most important thing. Planning to take pork for my dinner makes me remember my previous encounters with my pork vendor. He is a middle-aged man who always welcomes me warmly at his butchery. Whenever I go to his butchery, he serves me swiftly and with the best pork. I am a regular customer. Having introduced several of my friends at his butchery, he values me as a customer, and he always ensures he offers me the best product and services. His treatment keeps me going back to buy from him. Additionally, he practices very high hygiene standards, and this assures me of my health safety. Concentrating more on the ingredients, preparation and price of the pork, my vendor hardly cares about other essential components.

The pork prices offered at the butchery are constant and changes after quite a long interval. Being assured of non-fluctuating prices, I am able to budget for my pork consumption on a monthly basis. The prices offered are reasonably favorable to anyone who considers taking pork. This makes its consumption constant and very profitable to the vendor. Through this strategy, the vendor has achieved a niche in the neighborhood and always clears his supply. His products are always safe and healthy for consumption.&nbsp.

Write a paper on should the rain forest destruction be prohibited

I need some assistance with these assignment. should the rain forest destruction be prohibited Thank you in advance for the help! The notion that rainforest destruction should be restricted or altogether prohibited has both its believers and proponents in competitive ratio. This is also the general consensus as predicted by the scientific reports that with increased globalization adversely affecting the rainforests, global GDP can be significantly reduced because of the loss of long-term income in exchange for transitory economic gains.

It is considered by those favoring deforestation that this activity has phenomenally modernized the civilization by enhancing globalization and opening new horizons of opportunities for people from rural backgrounds. This is unequivocally true that deforestation leads to the conversion of forests into clear lands that can be cultivated for a broad range of agricultural uses. Much of the negativity regarding rainforest destruction relates to illegal timber trade, greed-based agricultural activities, and neglect displayed by the state authorities. This negativity is so excessively potent that it totally outweighs some of the positive aspects of deforestation, with the result that the future of global ecosystems is fraught with risk presently. Given that deforestation exposes the soil to scorching heat and heavy rain, most of the nutrients and other organic materials that make the soil suitable for vegetation and which reside in the upper layers of the soil are first deteriorated by the direct sunlight and later washed away by the rainwater, thus making the soil loses its natural fertility. Increased flooding is also a major drawback of deforestation that results because of the diminished number of trees, which help in absorbing large quantities of water and prevent flooding. Trees are highly capable of keeping the rate of flooding to a level that can be handled appropriately. Critics also relate sedimentation with deforestation,&nbsp.saying that when the topmost fertile layers of the soil are removed by the rainwater, many fisheries and reefs suffer from sedimentation resulting from excessive flooding, thus causing major setbacks to many businesses and destroying the wildlife.

write an article on Roles of Catholic Women in Society Past and Present.

Hello, I am looking for someone to write an article on Roles of Catholic Women in Society Past and Present. It needs to be at least 1250 words. The modern-day women in the Catholic Church are being provided with more authoritative tasks as both servants in the church and in the society (Amidon, 2010). Women are viewed more as equals to men in the church. The same perception is embraced in a society where women have more leadership roles. What are the differences in the role of Catholic women in society today and in the past?

The role of ordination in the Catholic Church is an important event in that it creates a person with a closer relationship to the church and with Christ. Over the years, the ordination of men has been embraced as an act signified by Jesus in the selection of 12 apostles (Gary, 2007). However, the ordination of women in the past church was never allowed. This placed women in the society as only servants of the church. Leaders in society in the Catholic faith must be ordained to hold such a position. This role of women was, however, criticized since women were willing to increase their services to the church and society. For this reason, women began to be ordained by the church to serve in society (Allen, 2009).

In an argument by Gary (2007) the modern-day society view of women leadership in the Catholic Church is less prejudiced. The ordination of women has placed gender in leadership roles in the community. For instance, the Catholic Church serves the community with the creation of schools and medical institutions. In most of these institutions, leadership positions are preserved for women. Women in these positions have been ordained by the church. Hanson (2014) points out that the ordination of women in the church today has also increased their number in the ministry role. The author further asserts that across the United States there are over 30,000 lay leaders in which almost 85% of them are women (Hanson, 2014). This role in society increases their abilities to minister in society. This role was not accepted in the past Catholic Church. With these changes, women in the church continue to push for the ordination to deacon hood a process opposed due to the fact the ultimate role of the priesthood in the church is strictly reserved for men.

submit a 1250 words paper on the topic Effect of Sulfur on the Environment.

Hi, need to submit a 1250 words paper on the topic Effect of Sulfur on the Environment. The sulfur is found in the air in many forms and when these compounds are inhaled at larger concentrations, it irritates the eyes and throats of the people as well as animal species.

Sulfur occurs naturally in the environment with most of its sediments at the volcanic regions. 2 % of the world’s production is mined out has the elemental sulfur and the remaining percentage is obtained as a co-product, recovered from the oil and gas production. The elemental sulfur is also called as brimstone. The largest production of sulfur occurs wherever the coal and oil are refined and processed.

Sulfur is one of the integral components and an important commodity of the world economy. It is used in the production of Sulphuric acid, batteries, Detergents, fungicides, fertilizers, gunpowder, matches, fireworks, rubber products, sugars, etc. The use of these sulfur-containing materials as part of the above applications are very dangerous to the environment. Among these applications, Sulfur is the primary source for the production of Sulphuric acid with over 30 million tones of Sulphuric acid are being produced in the US alone. It is used as a dehydrating agent in many industries and it is an essential component in many processes as an intermediate. Sulfur dioxide is used as a bleaching agent in wood pulping industries and textile industries. It is also used for preserving fruits such as apples, apricots, figs, etc., and for cleaning the vats for the preparation of cheese and wine. Sulfur is also used in the fertilizer industry for the production of the phosphate, nitrogen, potassium and sulfate fertilizers. The plants also need sulfur for its growth, as next to nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium, sulfur is an important component of its growth. The sulfur concentration increases the crop yield of the plants in many ways. The sulfur is required for the plant growth and nutrition. It also increases the nutritive value of plant growth.

prepare and submit a term paper on Resistance in Medically Important Pest and its Significance on Military Preventive Medicine.

You will prepare and submit a term paper on Resistance in Medically Important Pest and its Significance on Military Preventive Medicine. Your paper should be a minimum of 1250 words in length. &nbsp.Russell (2001) defines environmental health as that branch public health that deals with all issues and aspects of the natural and artificial environment that may affect human health. It is concerned majorly with the protection of the environment to benefit man.&nbsp. It is not to be confused with environmental protection, which seeks to protect the environment for its own sake (Russell in cit.). It encompasses all physical, chemical and biological factors around a human being, as well as the related factors that affect behaviours. He also clarifies that the discipline excludes all behavior and practices not related to the environment and the behavior associated with the social and cultural environment. Environmental medicine, a term that is not yet fully established, often serves as a synonym to environmental health.

Social and ecological vulnerability to environmental disasters are the results of increased erosion of resilience prior to and post the disaster (Harrison, 2011). Firm socio-ecological systems call for diversified systems for tolerating and combating unexpected occurrences. This is an implication that the successful handling of environmental issues demands a concerted effort in multi-level governance to enhance the ability to cope with such. Both the military, the local residents as well as the federal governments have a part to play in the successful control of environmental hazards. In this case, resilience will bring to thought the complex ability of a system to self-organize and develop for learning and adapting a capacity.

The United States Army Centre for Environmental Health Research (USACEHR) seeks to develop capabilities to detect, assess and prevent health hazards from adverse environmental and psychological exposure (Black, 2004). They have facilitated and conducted several pieces of research on the measurement, surveillance, and elimination of harmful chemicals and materials.

Among the many environmental issues tackled by the military, pest control and eradication has become one of the most important fields. This is because pests and diseases pose the second fatal threat to military activities after the enemy’s weapon (Russell 2001).&nbsp.

prepare and submit a term paper on The Queer Asian American Diaspora.

You will prepare and submit a term paper on The Queer Asian American Diaspora. Your paper should be a minimum of 1250 words in length. This is also more evident because of the religion that most Asian societies adhere to. Faiths among Asian cultures are observed with conservative religiosity. Among others, these factors make it challenging for the queer Asian American to foster a reassured life with himself and his community truly. An ideal existence where he is comfortable with his multiple identities to co-exist is a challenge to the queer Asian American diaspora.

&nbsp.&nbsp.&nbsp.&nbsp.&nbsp.&nbsp.&nbsp.&nbsp.&nbsp.&nbsp.&nbsp. Raja G. Bhattar and Nathaniel A. Victoria, in their article titled Rainbow Rice: A Dialogue between Two Asian American Gay Men in Higher Education and Student Affairs, explores their identity as gay men belonging to Asian communities in the United States and how it has affected their full realization of their sexuality. Further complicating their coming out process is their strong religious backgrounds that had always been part of their childhood identity. Nathan was brought up in a strictly Catholic background and went to a Catholic school, which had never encouraged openly gay students. Raja is in an even deeper predicament as he is Hindu, but his family came from a long line of priests. The discord between homosexuality and religion is not an uncommon theme in sexual identity. But the reality of this struggle becomes pressing when one’s own family consciously urges strict gender adherence. These two men had always had a problem in coming out even to their own family, who remain unaccepting and considers their sexuality a matter of choice. Nathan states, “My Catholic religion and my Filipino American cultural identity did not provide the channels I need to express myself” (Bhattar and Victoria 43). This same feeling was shared by Raja, who is subject to an even bigger predicament.

Indian culture strongly believes in arranged marriages, and my mother has already chosen a bride. This poor woman is now waiting for me to marry her and be her Prince Charming. The problem is, I want my own Prince Charming, too.&nbsp. (Bhattar and Victoria, 42).

The muddled understanding of South Asian disposition to regard homosexuality as a Western creation is perhaps the distinctive factor that explains why between Nathan and Raja, the latter experiences more persistent complications about his ethnic background. Another Indian American LGBT recognized this same idea in Jasbir Puar.

submit a 1500 words paper on the topic Chemical Kinetics.

Hi, need to submit a 1500 words paper on the topic Chemical Kinetics. The chemical reaction rates were found through the assessment of the product or the reactant over a certain period of time. Irrespective of the reactant chosen in determining the rate, the outcome will always be similar. However, it is quite imperative to note the stoichiometric ratio for the components. For instance, assuming product A and Product B reacts as shown in the following formula.&nbsp. The reaction rate can be represented as a variable and function of each product and reactant as shown below

For every reactant, it was normally assumed that the concentration was decreasing, the moment the reaction occurred. For this reason, to prove the positivity in the rate, a negative value is used. On the other hand, the product’s concentration was on a rising trend when the reaction proceeded.&nbsp. The measurement of the reaction rate was done in various ways. This involved accurately measuring changes in the concentration as one reaction occurred simultaneously. The experiment utilized a visual change of the reactant’s color used. Therefore, since the visual indications are always in a subjective manner, we performed the experiment several. Additionally, the change in color indicated that the reactant’s concentration reached zero, therefore, the experiment measured the mean reaction rate for the whole process. The rate law of the reaction described the relationship of the reaction rates to the reaction of the reactants. Using a similar generic reaction, the rate law used the following formula

From the model, k represented the rate constant for the experiment, while y and x represented the reaction order for B and A respectively. The experiment did not acknowledge x and y are stoichiometric coefficients from a and b (Mathews, Van Holde, and Ahern, 765). The reaction order value was determined with the help of the experiment. The group did not use the balanced chemical equation to find one. The reaction orders were determined with the help of the initial rates method, where the experiment was conducted varying the reactant’s concentration while maintaining others. In the reaction time, the resultant change was used to find out the rate order for the reactant.
