Integrating graphics into Project 3

Integrating graphics into Project 3. What kind of graphics will you use in your process description and instructions? Both of these forms of writing can benefit from graphics to help readers be able to visualize the process more clearly. Of course, similar to how these two forms’ purposes differ, with one being oriented toward helping the reader understand the process and the other form helping the reader perform the process, the graphics used in each form would probably differ.

Describe graphics you might use for these two parts of your Project 3, giving at least one example for each part. (The assignment asks only for one graphic in the whole assignment, but for this discussion think about how you might use graphics in both parts.) Explain why you would use those particular graphics and how they will help the readers either to understand more clearly or to carry out the process in question.)

For your Discussion Board post, answer the questions that are listed below. For assistance with your assignment, please use your text, Web resources, and all course materials.

Discussion Board Assignment Guidelines:

  • Answer the following questions:
    • Why are people fearful of change?

Assignment 3: Neuroanatomy Project

Imagine that you are working in a neurology clinic. One of the neurologists tells you that as his or her practice is expanding, he or she is having difficulty meeting the education needs of his or her patients. Part of this problem is explaining the basic neuroanatomical structures to the patients in layperson’s language so that they understand their diagnoses and their underlying neurological impairments. The neurologist asks you to create a written guide for the patients, including both the CNS and the PNS. He or she describes what the basic neuroanatomical structures are, where they are located, how they interact, and what function they serve.

He or she asks you to name the structures by using the correct technical language but to use layperson’s language as much as possible elsewhere.

Your neuroanatomy guide should cover the following:

  • Basic neuroanatomical structures (including the CNS and the PNS, as well as the structural packaging that protects the brain from the environment)
  • Locations of these structures
  • Functions they serve (what functions damage to these areas may affect)
  • How they interact

Be sure to explain the information in layperson’s language and use graphics and pictures where helpful. Use APA format when citing material from scholarly sources such as your textbook and online notes. Include a cover page and a reference page listing the resources you used to create your guide.

Your response should be at least 2 pages long. Save the response as AU_PSY350_M1_A3_LastName_FirstInitial.doc. Submit your response to the M1 Assignment 3 Dropbox by Wednesday, April 1, 2015.

Voting

The ultimate expression of freedom in the United States is the right to vote. This right is deeply treasured by many Americans, but there are those that take the process for granted. How is my vote counted? Do I have fair representation in Congress? Does my vote make a difference? These are the kinds of questions a concerned citizen must ask when considering the voting process.

There are a number of different methods for counting votes used around the world ranging from majority rule to the constitutionally mandated electoral college used to determine the US presidency. In order to explore the complexities of the voting process and methods used to assure fairness, let’s examine the following scenario:

In the near future, Congress and the states will abolish the process of voting at the polls in the United States. Instead, all citizens will cast their votes via an approved and secure smartphone app.

In your post, address the following questions:

  • Describe what changes you anticipate this would make to the accuracy, documentation, expense, and convenience of the voting process.
  • What method of fairness do you feel would be best suited to counting the votes in this process: majority rule or some other variation?
  • Explain whether this method of voting could be considered truly secure.
  • What are some unintended consequences that could arise from this method of casting votes?

When constructing your response, consider the theories, examples, and concepts discussed in your readings this module, and refer to them to support your conclusions.

Write your initial response in a minimum of 200 words. Apply APA standards to citation of sources.

 Consider commenting on the following:

  • If this smartphone voting method was based solely upon the majority-rule method of voting, how could citizens ever really know if they are being fairly represented by elected officials?
  • Based upon what you’ve learned this module, is voting as straightforward as the general public might think?

Cultural Competence and Sensitivity

Assignment 2: Cultural Competence and Sensitivity

Not only is context important in determining whether an individual’s behavior meets the criteria for a mental disorder, but culture and family background can also be important factors. Some behaviors would clearly be “abnormal” in any culture or family, while other behaviors are not so clearly defined.

Using your textbook and the Argosy University online library resources, research the role of cultural norms in identifying mental disorders. Based on your research, respond to the following:

  • Why is culture an important consideration in the interview, assessment, and diagnostic process?
  • How might your own cultural, ethnic, or family values, rules, or traditions be misinterpreted as “abnormal” by someone from a dissimilar background? Give examples in your answer.

Write your initial response in 2–3 paragraphs. If you refer to research information, cite sources applying APA standards.

Managerial Finance Assignment 4

Unless otherwise stated, answer in complete sentences, and be sure to use correct English, spelling, and grammar.

Respond to the items below.

Part A:Given the following cash inflow at the end of each year, what is the future value of this cash flow at 6%, 9%, and 15% interest rates at the end of the seventh year?

Year 1                             $15,000

Year 2                             $20,000

Year 3                             $30,000

Years 4 through 6                    $0

Year 7                          $150,000

Part B: County Ranch Insurance Company wants to offer a guaranteed annuity in units of $500, payable at the end of each year for 25 years. The company has a strong investment record and can consistently earn 7% on its investments after taxes. If the company wants to make 1% on this contract, what price should it set on it? Use 6% as the discount rate. Assume that it is an ordinary annuity and that the price is the same as present value.

Part C: A local government is about to run a lottery but doesnot want to be involved in the payoff if a winner picks an annuity payoff. The government contracts with a trust to pay the lump-sum payout to the trust and have the trust (probably a local bank) pay the annual payments. The first winner of the lottery chooses the annuity and will receive $150,000 a year for the next 25 years. The local government will give the trust $2,000,000 to pay for this annuity. What investment rate must the trust earn to break even on this arrangement?

Part D: Your dreams of becoming rich have just come true. You have won the State of Tranquility’s Lottery. The State offers you two payment plans for the $5,000,000 advertised jackpot. You can take annual payments of $250,000 for the next 20 years or $2,867,480 today.

a.     If your investment rate over the next 20 years is 8%, which payoff will you choose?

b.     If your investment rate over the next 20 years is 5%, which payoff will you choose?

c.     At what investment rate will the annuity stream of $250,000 be the same as the lump sum payment of $2,867,480?

paper due easy essay

The inspiration for this course is the CNBC show The Big Idea, which features people whose inventions and ideas have changed the business world and everyday life. Anyone can come up with a life-changing idea: a housewife who realizes that disposable diapers are clogging landfills and invents a cover for cloth diapers, a mother who creates the “rapid prompting method” to communicate with her autistic son, and a young man with cerebral palsy who pitches a travel show for the “differently abled.” All of these ideas emerged out of the creator’s desire to fulfill a need that was not being met. In this course, you will be forming your own “big idea” and deciding how best to communicate that idea and persuade others of its significance. Your “big idea” might provide a solution to a problem, fulfill a need, or advocate change.

To begin this process, think of a problem that needs to be addressed, preferably one relevant to your own experience and community. Do you have any “big ideas” for addressing this problem? This problem could be tied to your field of study or it could be something with more personal implications.
